What is the stainless part?

one quick questions, is the stainless thing on the photo in the right position? (It came in that position) 

i can’t find any information about it.

Hi @ChristopherHauser, can you take the piece out and photograph it?  It is over the fire box and can't stay there I don't think. It might be an upside down double bottom pan but easiest to tell if you get it out and take a photo.

Yes I can. It’s on the bottom below the charcoal basket. I wrote with Dennis, it’s normal for “built in” versions.

Dennis says it actually does and stops the grill froM potentially wobbling. 
 

it was news to me, as all images I have seen before don’t show this part.

It’s a 22 Beast. @C6Bill that’s why I was asking as I have never seen it before on any photos.

if this is a new part, is the placement correct? because the L bend is obstructing the lower vent.

I think so yes. Perhaps @DennisLinkletter can say a few more words about it for the rest of us. I don’t want to copy our private conversation into here.

I am curious to see how the whole set up works.  Does your fire basket sit underneath this piece of stainless steel?

The metal part sits at the bottom of the grill under the fire box and basket.

This is a heat shield for the 22" Beast.. 
It prevents the material dead center of the floor directly under the firebox from heating up and expanding (at high temps) which can actually make it rock a bit..  The center expands but the outside of the grill floor does not creating a high spot dead center. This plate prevents this from happening.
As I always say, physics sets the rules!

I have been searching this forum looking for this answer. I was getting ready to post a picture of this part myself. I assumed this is how it installed, but could not find any other mention of it.  Thanks for clarifying.
