tony b Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 Swiss and Havarti, with bacon, mayo and tomato. Tried a new trick from an Internet story about Nat'l Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day - instead of butter on the outside, use mayo! Works pretty good and was just as tasty. 1
tinyfish Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 I love grilled cheese sandwiches. Will try the mayo trick.
CeramicChef Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 Oh my! tony, thanks! My old restaurant used to serve a TON of grilled cheese sandwiches of every sort. Gotta get me a grilled cheeses sammie today.
ckreef Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 Grilled cheese with mayo definitely works - nice post.
MacKenzie Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 It is hard to beat a grilled cheese sandwich, I love them I agree, mayo does give a nice colour:) I knew it was going to be goooood- 2
MacKenzie Posted April 13, 2015 Report Posted April 13, 2015 Thanks, Tony. I used that mayo idea on mushrooms this evening. It was the first time for that but I thought why not. It kept the mushrooms from drying out and I'll use it again. Thanks for mentioning the mayo idea:)
tony b Posted April 13, 2015 Author Report Posted April 13, 2015 Great adaptation! I guess you could conceivably substitute it for butter in sauteing just about anything???
CeramicChef Posted April 13, 2015 Report Posted April 13, 2015 I've used mayo when cooking salmon over high heat. Keeps it wonderfully moist!
ckreef Posted April 13, 2015 Report Posted April 13, 2015 Me and Mrs skreef got a good laugh out of the bite missing picture. Great job.
