bryan Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 Could this be a new toy? http://www.steakchamp.com/en/
DaveyR Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 ooohhh bryan that is just cruel posting something like that. As amazon has it on prime and can still deliver for the weekend. Wonder how it would handle the sear temp on bottom grill. Only seems rated up to 500 c
ckreef Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 Read most of the website. Up to 600* f for normal use. Short term use up to 900* f They seem to recommend an initial Sear followed by a lower temp cook to the desire temp. Interesting but probably not something I would buy. I usually don't have trouble with MD rare just by feel. For any kind of reverse sear I have my Maverick.
CeramicChef Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 It's great technology and I like the concept, but I'm not a buyer at $60. I can just about hit Med Rare just about 99% of the time at this point in life. 1
bgrant3406 Posted June 3, 2015 Report Posted June 3, 2015 Until Dennis comes up with a see through top for the KK, I'm not sure how useful this would be. Constantly opening the top to check the blinking light would seem to slow things down. Like others have said, it's pretty easy to hit med rare or other doneness after a few tries.

tony b Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 Sounds like the perfect gadget for the Weber crowd.
CeramicChef Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 +1^, LOL! tony, that just cracked me up! Thanks, it's been a tough day.
tony b Posted June 4, 2015 Report Posted June 4, 2015 Hey, I try my best! Sounds like you're in need of an adult beverage! I'm off to start dinner (cowboy ribeye in the SV since 2pm), but first a cocktail! Oh de-ah! I do think my malaria might be trying to act up. I'd better go drink me some quinine tonic, with a little gin mixed in, you know, for good measure!
CeramicChef Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 How about a T-Top, especially when cooking T-Bones?
wilburpan Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Maybe a KK with at least a skylight. Until Dennis comes up with a see through top for the KK, I'm not sure how useful this would be. Constantly opening the top to check the blinking light would seem to slow things down. Like others have said, it's pretty easy to hit med rare or other doneness after a few tries. bryan Posted June 8, 2015 Author Report Posted June 8, 2015 Now that is a display. Looks like a "Steak Champ" to me.
