What say you?

If you are over heated while grilling?

Try a splash of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. (cuts the crap and gets to the problem)

This is not for those that like to challenge. It is for those that are have a hydration problem and need fast help.

The apple cider vinegar will add a dose of potassium to the body. Helps to digest protein (i.e. BBQ'd meat) better too.

But in extreme cases, read up on heat exhaustion and heat stroke, especially during this killer hot summer. Heat exhaustion can be helped by going indoors and rehydrating. You are sweating profusely, may feel dizzy or irritable, and you need to drink plenty liquids.

Heat stroke follows is you don't take care of heat exhaustion.  You're skin is not "wet" anymore and you are disoriented because your body temperature is hovering around 105 or higher.  While waiting for an ambulance, being submerged in a cool tub of water to bring down the body temperature. Sorry to say, but alcohol makes your condition worse. Coffee too. Not be gross, but if your urine is a much darker color than usual, you are in the process of dehydrating. Plenty of water and cooling down will get you good as new at this stage. Don't let it get serious.

I don't have to worry about heat exhaustion around here this summer. I'm just glad when I can take the polar fleece off;) I do find homemade Ginger Kombucha to be a great thirst quencher and doesn't add too many calories either.

Oh dee-yah! I do believe that my malaria might be trying to act up. I guess I'd bettah have a quinine, maybe with a tad of juniper gin in it; and oh yes, a nice piece of lime, just to be on the safe side! You can never be too careful about that scurvy!

Uh, oh, a fellow gin and tonic drinker, this thread could divert very rapidly!

Well... Being a Brit living in Asia for the last decade I can attest to the preventative health benefits of gin (tonic optional 😄)

I think this may warrant a new thread on drinks to beat the heat!

I'm here in Oklahoma City, OK. Right in the smack dab middle of the USA. It gets HOT and humid here during half the year.

My drink of choice during those hot summertime months is gin and soda with a splash of Roses lime. Quick and easy to make and wonderfully refreshing. Around ChezChef we call it Electric Limeade.

And then there is nothing better than a wonderfully dry martini.

Just had a really refreshing cocktail last month by the pool. Red grapefruit vodka, Mexican grapefruit soda, juice from half a lime, served on ice in a glass with a salted rim. It was excellent.

Sounds great, GoFrogs, but I can't have anything with grapefruit in it, as it messes with my meds (atorvistatin).

PJ, Hendricks gets a thumbs up in my book, so does Bombay Saffire, and the local stuff from ClearHeart (Cedar Ridge) - my "everyday" gin.
