GoFrogs91 Posted September 16, 2015 Report Posted September 16, 2015 To those that use Dutch ovens on the grill, does it damage the outside? I have some nice cast iron/ceramic coated pots that I have been chicken to use.
MacKenzie Posted September 16, 2015 Report Posted September 16, 2015 I have used them often at regular casserole temps, 350 F range with no negative effects.
tinyfish Posted September 16, 2015 Report Posted September 16, 2015 Tried mine once 325f and cleaned up just fine. Maybe you can buy one on sale for your KK.
CeramicChef Posted September 16, 2015 Report Posted September 16, 2015 Frogs - I smear a light coating of liquid soap on the outside of my porcelain coated CI. Makes cleanup easy peasy.
ckreef Posted September 17, 2015 Report Posted September 17, 2015 Use ceramic or ceramic coated DO's, Caserole pans etc all the time. I've gone into the 500* range on a few occasions. Never a worry and cleanup is easy. I won't ever buy a regular CI DO again and generally like ceramic anything. Of course a CI griddle is the main exception.
kjs Posted September 24, 2015 Report Posted September 24, 2015 Have used both ceramic coated cast and seasoned cast iron, might get a little smoke residue, which cleans up easily.
mguerra Posted October 21, 2015 Report Posted October 21, 2015 I have a fair number of cookware items that I reserve for use in the KK, so if they get crapped out, my wife doesn't care. I make no effort to get them cleaned up on the outside surfaces, just wipe the smoke goo off with a paper towel and let it go at that. Half sheets, baking pans, casserole dishes, dutch oven and so on.
