Jon B. Posted January 11, 2016 Author Report Posted January 11, 2016 Guess I'm going to have to up my game. How was the crumb? It was a little better than the picture.......we made meatloaf sandwiches with it. The extent of my baking skills....Ha!
tinyfish Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 Not everyone can bake like MacKenzie but it still looks good.
PRippley Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 Agreed tiny, my only change would be not many can bake like MacKenzie! Good effort though Jon, I would eat your bread!
MacKenzie Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 PJ and Tinyfish, you are too nice to me. but don't stop.
kjs Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 I think it looks pretty darn good. I agree MacKenzie sets the bar high and is the standard on the forum for baking and food photography.
MacKenzie Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 kjs, thanks. I feel like I'm in a field with a whole group of inspirational KK cooks and I'm liking it a lot, it is great fun.
tony b Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Hey, don't diss the bread machine! I owned one for several years and made some damn yummy bread in it. My 2 favs were blueberry and a pecan/red onion. Dump everything in the night before, program the machine, wake up to fresh baked bread!

PRippley Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 I have an old one inherited from my mom. I use it for the kneading part (not a good enough baker to invest in a kitchen aid) for me it helps make it quicker and easier so I can bake more loaves, goodness knows I need the practice. I pull the dough ball out of the machine after several minutes and plop it into my parchment paper lined CI pan for the rise and bake. I am close to baking my next loaf on Saphira! Thanks to ckreef and MacK for your contributions to my technique! PJ
ckreef Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 That looks like a good loaf. Charles - Prometheus 16.5", Cassiopeia 19" TT
MacKenzie Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 Oh my goodness, pj, I am envious, seriously jealous. That is a winner.
PRippley Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Thank you Charles and MacKenzie! So far that is my best sourdough loaf. Charles you see I baked it in my 1.5 QT. enameled cast iron pan....😊
