GASMAN Posted April 23, 2017 Report Posted April 23, 2017 Getting settled in with new grill...did the burn in yesterday... so i made some splatchcocked chickens...some smoked baked beans...and after decided to not waste the heat and make some sourdough bread I have a baking stone still in box and just used cast iron lid without adding steam I was very happy with chicken and beans but not with the bread so much....my technique needs some modifications Quote
GASMAN Posted April 23, 2017 Author Report Posted April 23, 2017 I will get it down...temp management is issue...heres the chickens....beans...and plated 1 Quote
Paul Posted April 23, 2017 Report Posted April 23, 2017 Nice color on that chicken. The whole meal looks fantastic. Any smoking wood? Quote
GASMAN Posted April 23, 2017 Author Report Posted April 23, 2017 I used the coffee char and chunk ...need to adequately heat soak grill before adding chunk...live and learn...tasted great though thanks Quote
GASMAN Posted April 23, 2017 Author Report Posted April 23, 2017 Here is the bread cut...nice crust and interior...just not enough oven spring...not yet asthetically pleasing but it eats real good...temp and humidity...we will get it Quote
MacKenzie Posted April 23, 2017 Report Posted April 23, 2017 GASMAN, gorgeous meal, everything looks deeelicious.:) Quote

GASMAN Posted April 23, 2017 Author Report Posted April 23, 2017 Bread tastes too smoky for me as well...bought plenty of the extruded coconut so i will try that next time for baking a few loaves and then some pizzas Quote
tony b Posted April 24, 2017 Report Posted April 24, 2017 Yes, pure coco char will be better for your baking. Almost no flavor. Chickens look great. What's the rub on them? Quote
