  1. Great idea on smoking the pot of chicken soup! Up until a few years ago I could source "stewing hens" at Whole Foods and another now defunct local meat purveyor but the chicken factory biz must be sending all those old flavorful hens to the pet food industry as they're just not available. Young friers just don't make it for full flavor chicken soup. Butchers look at me now when I ask about stewing hens as if I asked for weapons grade plutonium Only in 'merica.

  3. Yes there was a HUGE setback when the clown with the CNC milling wanted $180 per piece to cut the juice groove and mill the grilling side smooth. Then the sand blasting guy walked from the project saying it took too much concentration. He prefers to just blast rust off ships. I'm working with a place to try to do sand castings now.. If I can't make them better than what's on the market already there really is no reason to make them. Although I may also just make a very simple KK grill shaped one with the side holes to lift and the special grabbers.

  5. Looks great! Love that tweed. For a minute, I thought you were at my house - sandy colored bricks lightly green'd, bug spray on the window sill. I guess those are just GA things

  8. Here's the plan, bill>Tony>Jon>Bosco> Mac Kenzie. It might just work. We'll borrow Bosco's Yeti cooler and that should keep everything cold until it arrives at my door.

  9. Tony, you're closer to the border than I am by a long shot! I'll be happy to do my part though. I remmeber when I bought my printer from Epson, it didn't work and they sent me a bax to ship it in and it had two shipping labels inside. I though they were duplicates, paid no attention. I grabbed the first label that came to hand, slapped it on the box and hauled the box over to PS. A couple months later I got an invoice from Canadian Customs for $40 or so, turns out I had put the Epson CA label on and never noticed. Why Epson USA would send me a return label for Epson CA is beyond me, but they did. And I shipped it there! That's OK, if the election goes South I'm going to tell people I'm Canadian anyway. I paid my forty bucks, I must be at least part Canadian, right?

  11. I have to admit that I've been cooking my breakfast every morning on the 16.5 inch KK. Bill you will find that it is harder and harder to use the kitchen stove once you taste the food cooked on the KK. Just wait until you do your first pizza.

  12. So now all that's left to do is unwrap, unbox and assemble: Now I just have to do something with the remnants: And clean the brick! There used to be a planting bed at that part of the house before I dug it up and laid the patio, I hadn't realized all that green gunk was behind the grills. Oh, and put some charcoal in the grill and fire it up! Almost forgot....

  14. Last evening just about sunset we had the most beautiful colours , the whole sky was on the gold side. The whole day was a miserable windy and rainy one but all that moisture in the air resulted in a great evening sky. Here are a couple of pixs from my ODK.
