  1. We are very likely to get snow in the next few days or so. I thought while the sun is out I'd better finish the preparations. First thing I did was get "Little Barbie" out. The first winter I had the ODK we had a huge storm in Nov. That sent me to the store as soon as the roads opened up to get something to clear the deck off. I had done my research and knew what I wanted. As I came to the counter along with a whole bunch of guys buying their big gas snow blowers I could see the smiles as they looked at my selection.No matter, undeterred I paid and headed home. Since then we have had several blizzards and never once has Little Barbie let me down. Now I'm the one with the big smile. That thing can throw snow. Next thing is to get the Sunbrella shades up to keep the snow off everything. It is easy to get at both KKs when needed. Let it snow, let it snow.

  3. I posted before how pleased I was with SRF and their customer service. They sent me a second one, since my first rib cap arrived thawed, and I got to cooking it. While I did not execute it quite as perfectly as my first cook, it was really dang good. Way up there. I just seared it on the first side just a tad too much. I resolved this by flipping it and finishing it on the main grate. Saved it but it wasn’t as perfect as it could have been. oh and I made pie. I am getting good at making pie.

  4. It was below freezing today so time to smoke some cheese using the cold smoker. Used whiskey smoking wood for 4 or so hours on some aged cheddar and aged Gouda. Smoked.

  5. Some organic red kidney beans grown by a friend. Did an overnight soak started with boiling water and 1 t baking soda. In the morning did a water change and boiled the beans for about 15 mins to get rid of the bean poison. Changed the water and they are ready to go into the chili. Plated and added some shaved smoked cheese. Just after lunch my order of organic black garlic arrived. I wish it had come an hour earlier. Nice taste and texture, it is very moist and a little sticky.:)

  6. On thing I do that’s not mentioned in the recipe, I fry the sausage slices until they’re pretty thoroughly cooked, I guess it’s a texture thing, plus it makes the red beans a little less greasy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  8. That’s a pretty slick set up Mac! I thought it was chilly around here at 55 to 63 degrees guess I’m too used to California weather lol. I didn’t see you Komodo Kamado sign, is it still there?

  10. Beat ya to the punch, MacKenzie. We had a very light dusting here last night. At first this morning I thought we'd just had a heavy frost, but looking closer, it was snow. None in the yard or driveway, but on the roof, deck and on the truck parked in the driveway. And the high today was 28F. Yeah, winter's here! Didn't stop me from firing up the KK for dinner tonight - a nice pork steak. Sorry, no pics, wasn't in the mood to drag out the camera.

  15. Picked up this small beef roast .thought I would give it some rub...on it goes over some pecan..and ready to rest for the sear...after another rest ready to slice...and plated with a nice salad. Outback kamado Bar and Grill
