  1. Finally, it happened, i Got it unpackaged with the help of 2 good friends. 1 had tried it before, which took away most of the stress having a double pallet to cope with. I had to let it wait over the weekend to get it fired up this Sunday. It’s really a breeze to work with. Started with nothing fancy, buns baked at reasonable low 180c and then turned it down to 110c to make some fajitas out of flank steak for some Mexican dish. It was moist and temperature regulation was really stable. Not many pictures as it’s typical rain these days. We managed to take one when meat eventually was put on the first time.

  3. After college and starting my business, I'm finally at a point in life to invest in a grill. I've used a gas grill for the past year. Not any gas grill but a Holland Grill. It has served me well but I need something with a bit more versatility for my family. I've considered a pellet grill but quickly dismissed it. I wanted something without electronics, augers, motors, etc. I need stuff that reduce stress in my life not add to it. Considered the Komodo Joe and others but weaned something large enough to accommodate our family but also for holidays and parties. I wanted a grill large enough to cook meats and sides simultaneously. After endless amounts of research, reading forums, and watching YouTube videos I've decided on the 32" Big Bad. I ordered it in the Cobalt Blue square tiles but wish I would've went with the pebble. Oh, well. I'll like it no matter the tile shape I'm excited to begin my journey of cooking with a KK. I have a lot to learn and hopefully plenty of time left on this planet to do so 😎 Grill is expected to ship in the next few weeks and hopefully make it to WI by early February.

  4. @Cheesehead_Griller the 32 is a great choice. It has a lot of room and the ability to split the firebox down to a quarter of its size means that you can cook very economically if you only have a small cook. If you are even thinking of it I would go for a second KK - now or at some point in the future. I thought it was a mad idea until I tried it myself. An example is being able to grill at high temps in one KK while the other is still going low and slow. Not having to wait or juggle cooks is a nice luxury. And you could order your second KK in pebble and settle, once and for all, the argument about which cooks best - tile or pebble?

  5. Stop right there! My view is that you should not start your KK journey with regrets. Get in touch with Dennis and ask for a change if you really want pebble instead of tile. A month or two's delay, if any, will be worth it. I think the 32 is a great cooking machine and you have made the right choice there. If you want extra versatility I would get a second KK while you are at it. I have three and I love having the ability to cook a whole meal outdoors, using different temps in each grill as necessary. Your KK, your choice, my two penneth's worth.

  6. I wouldn't say I have regrets about going with square tiles. I just grew to like the pebble a bit more than I did initially. It's not a big deal. I'll enjoy my KK 32 regardless of tile shape. I'm stoked to get it and begin my journey. I considered buying 2 23's versus one 32 but I was advised to get the 32. I wanted the ability to cook more than just one thing and have a few different temps zones so I can cook an entire meal on the 32. I hope my expectations are in line with reality. Lol.

  7. I got matte back pebble and for a couple of minutes thought I should have gotten tiles. I think we all go through this. The blue tile will be stunning. You will love it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Amen to what tekobo said. And put both prongs on the same side so you can tighten with with one stop of the rotisserie motor.

  9. Congratulations guys. My second one is on a ship that should dock around December 6th give or take. I'm in Louisiana so it's BBQ weather all year long. I'm getting the cobalt blue pebble. You'll have a lot of fun with it and there are plenty of people on here ready to share their experience with you.

  10. Welcome! Congrats on your KK. Speaking as the owner of a cobalt blue tile KK, I think you made the right choice.

  11. Not sure on ship date. Dennis simply said early December. I ordered the square Blue Cobalt tiles. Wish I would've choose the pebble. Oh, well.

  12. Hi @Scott.W, when you say you have the large basket do you mean the rotisserie cradle? If so then my advice would be to remember to tighten the prongs as the cook progresses and the meat shrinks. I suspect you only have to do it once or twice during the cook but I do know that you end up with your food starting to rotate within the cradle if you don't take this simple step. Don't ask me how I know that to do otherwise will likely leave you with a rather ugly looking result. 🤭

  13. Welcome @Durangutan. I was once a new useless girl checking in who had never used a kamado and had only rarely barbecued. I now love my KKs and use them whenever I can. Get stuck in. Half the fun is in the deciding and waiting and then, when you finally get a KK (or two) of your own ALL the fun is in the cooking and looking.

  14. Hi, I would open the top one full turn then the bottom vent half open on the left and the biggest hole on the right. Light the fire in two spots and close the lid and wait 30 minutes and see how the temp in coming up. It should be coming up well at that point. Then as it gets up to 375 close the top down to a half turn open and the temp should stabilize. Of course every fire is a little different based on how it is packed but you should be in a good spot there to make small adjustments one way or the other at that point. if it is stable then just put in your drip pans, they will do your deflecting and catch drips. I like to cook my turkeys at 400. Last weeks 25 pounder took 2 hours and 15 minutes if memory serves me. That was a single in a 32. If your fire is stable and you have a decent heat soak i don't think it would make too much of a difference cooking one vs cooking two. Just be patient and let the temp come up after the birds go in.

  15. Congratulations!!!! I went from a BGE to a Primo to a KK too. You will love your KK, it is a whole new level of cooking compared to the other two.

  16. Well, for this week anyway. Wife: I've had it with you! I can't believe you forgot my birthday for the fifth time! I think a divorce is in our future. Husband: I'm sorry, dear. It won't happen again. I'll get you tickets for the upcoming NASCAR event. How's that? Wife: You'll do better than that. I've been wanting my own race car for years. A fast one too. Husband: You can't be serious. Wife: Tomorrow afternoon, there better be something in the driveway that can go from zero to 200 in less than 5 seconds. Period! Husband. Yes dear. So the next day the wife comes home and sees a package in the driveway. Thinking it's the keys to a race car she opens it to find a bathroom scale.
