  2. Finalized everything today and placed my order for a BB 32 Metallic Bronze. Coming from a BGE XL setup and Dennis was absolutely fantastic in answering all of my questions! Have some travel for work coming up and should receive by the end of June. Really looking forward to it - have spent the past few weeks researching and this is a great community! Jeff

  3. UPDATE: I’m told it has been booked and am awaiting the tracking. I’m hoping it will be here next week as We actually don’t have plans next weekend and it’s a rarity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Thanks for the tip @Basher. We have three apple trees on our allotment and it never occurred to me to keep the prunings for smoking food. Will definitely do so this year and will see how they work out next. I'll say this quietly: I am not a fan of purple crack. but I do like to try new stuff and will look out for Cornish Pepper Leaf to see if there are parts of the plant that are of interest.

  5. Sarge, I believe your ordering the 42, the largest unit and your comfortable with that, good. I have the 23 Ultimate and fuel isn't a consideration at this size however, a 42 seems a lot more mass to heat....I was wondering how fuel played into your equation. Enjoy retirement, you only get one lick.

  6. To celebrate booking my plane tickets to Barcelona this September, I made a nice Spanish dinner of chicken breast rubbed with Piment d’Espelette and a side of patatas bravas (roasted potatoes) with a charred tomato aioli. Unfortunately, I didn't have any Spanish white wine in the rack, so I improvised - LOL! Direct @ 350F with cherry wood chunk. Plated with a nice side salad with a Sherry vinaigrette. Oh, the potatoes were done in the air fryer with garlic oil and more Piment d’Espelette.

  8. Good point. Will stick to my own trees, which I have not sprayed. Now that I think about it I have apple, cherry and a mixed native hedge that contains some interesting varieties. I will look them up and make sure to save our prunings. Yay.

  10. This is indeed a fun post. Interesting to see how many wishes have been fulfilled in the meantime. I keep saying I like the 42 and the 22 but I know in my heart of hearts that my 21 and 23 are just right for my needs. I think a small Argentinian grill is still in my future. I like playing with fire and the way the v-shaped grill bars channel the fat away from the flames.

  11. I maintain a 100 hydration starter with 1/2 King Arthur bread flour and 1/2 fresh milled whole wheat. Fresh milled grains make starters go wild...they peak much more quickly. This is my base which I use for almost everything, keep in the fridge and feed once a week if not baking that week. When planning a bake, I may use that starter as the seed for my levain, which may require a few feedings of whatever is in that levain, like rye, etc.
