My new KK arrived and since I'm such a GREAT father I transferred ownership of my old KK to my oldest son. He hasn't been very interested in BBQ but after my 80th birthday party at my youngest son's house (tkline01) he was finally excited about cooking on a KK!! Out with the old.... In with the NEW!!!

It arrived at Sherman, Tx Central Freight unloaded morning of 3 July. Local agent agreed to deliver at my place 15 miles away before 1100. Unpacked it and had it ready to cook by 1300. Cooked 14# turkey starting at 0900 on rotisserie next day (4th of July) finished by 1200. Disappeared by my son and his family by 1430. New KK best every, really a bargain at Dennis price. Just amazing construction, quality, & beauty. Greatest bargain and functionality I have ever seen. It can be handed down for generation after generation.

EZ-Que They have a motor that has "302" as model #. It is 50# rated, is SS, and rotates counter clockwise so that it is not trying to unfasten from the bolt holders. It runs a little slower because of its 50# rating. I have one and has worked great. It will fit all the KK fittings. All though more costly it SS and has nice capacity. You can fit two 14 # turkeys on the 8" basket and this motor handles it with no problem, I have done it.

Cozy's New One I decided to let my son Warren have my existing KK almost 4 years old. I decided to award myself with a new KK for my 80th birthday at my wife's urging. What a great wife, after putting up with my 23.5 years as USAF pilot.

F4D The Navy did not have any spin tests flown on the development of the F4. A young Captain (USAF) flew The spin tests in 1970-71 at Edwards AFB. Before they got the special parachute attached to the tail right; he had to bail out 3 times. He proved there was no way to get the F4 out of a spin even the inverted one it liked to get into. He was Jerry Gentry and was a Major flight commander in my Squadron during Vietnam War. The Air Force said after several crashes to due the spin tests.

EZ-Que 8" basket will hold up to 14#. The 6" will hold a breast only that has bone in. If you ordered the 110V/Battery motor it runs clockwise so you have to really tighten the rods that go into the basket (counter clockwise) or it will dump your chicken or turkey. EZ-Que has a 50# capacity motor that runs counter clockwise which has a # 302 on it; I have both the battery & the 302 50# model and dumped a bird or two because I did not have the rods very tight as well as the screws on the hold downs using the Battery powered motor.

Welcome I had two experiences with Navy pilots. First during my U-2 days out of Laughlin AFB (1957-1961) one of my buddies flew a U-2 down to Corpus and they put it on a Carrier, which he then went out to the gulf and took it off with out the sling shot. Later in the late 68 or so Lockheed had modified a U-2 with a tail hook, the Lockheed test pilot went to Norfolk, VA and landed on a carry and also did takeoffs without a sling shot. I don't think the Navy flew any missions with a modified U-2. After U-2 I flew F4D in Vietnam (71-72) for 179 missions out of Ubon Royal Thai Air Base. We had special D Band Loran System that allowed us to drop from 25,000' straight & level with great accuracy. One time I dropped my 16- 500# bomb load, and the ABCP sent me to the Tanker to refuel because they were sending 4 Navy A-7's for me to lead to a Loran target for them to get rid of their bombs because their assigned target was WX in. It all worked out and after they dropped their Bombs I said to them: "Does that make you feel like B52's" They gave me the finger.....Welcome.

One Answer In Texas you can go through a course that makes it legal to carry a concealed weapon. The weapon of choice is the Glock in 40 cal. Hit them anywhere with one shot and it will nock them down like the WWI 45cal. In Texas if someone enters your home, not invited, you can shot them to kill legally. Hope you can protect your home in Indonesia.

Kobe Beef I was stationed at Komaki AFB, Japan (25Kilo from Nagoya). We would at least once a week go to a Japanese steak house and get Kobe t-bones for about $2.00 dollars, which was 730 yen in those days. It was the best steaks I have had. (1952-1954) -
Meat Loaf Nice to see your recipe....Thanks

Thanks DavidS. Thanks for your kind words. DavidS also got my new design addition for 2009. Like Dennis, I like to come up with a design change each year. For 2009 I have added an engraved "P" & "S" with my Hermes engraver. I use a 3/8" diameter cutoff from a Dymonwood dowel. I place this in the center of the mills top. You can see this at www.cozycrafted.com. This means you can have two mills same size, but tell which one has salt or pepper very easily.

New Brochure It would be nice if you would put up the brochure in PDF format so we could copy it to hand out. I have copied your opening page to hand out but your new one would be great. -
Why nature (or at least Costco) packages chickens in twos
U2PLT replied to jdbower's topic in KK Cooking
Rotisserie I used mine a bunch and have never had any problems. I move the lump around to allow a small weber AL pan to sit in the middle below the rotisserie. I place my bird breast down in the holder and use the tools(came with KK) to tighten the EZ-Que holders very tight with pressure on the holder to really hold the bird. I light the lump with torch that surrounds the drip pan which rests on the lump holder without any lump under it. I then place the basket in the KK sockets. I like to use dry rub that has no sugar in it on the birds. All BBQ liquids have sugar in it which will get very dark or black over the cooking time. I have placed some apple pieces inside the breast. I then set the bottom draft door open a small amount with the top open 1/3 turn. I like to cook the first hour at lower temps 275* then when 1 hour gone by I open lid. stop the rotation with breast up and take temp of thighs. Then I open draft door a little more and top hat to get to 350* on the KK Thermometer. After 30 minutes check thigh temp again. When it gets to 175-180 I take the bird off and the breasts have shown temps of 180* but they are always very moist and tender. -
Vertical Spacing For Shelves I had built a cabinet that was quite big so I did vertical and horizontal. When the wind gets up dust really gets blown around and I find that there is more stuff on the horizontal shelves. Also with vertical I don't have any hang ups to pull different things out like the horizontal with more than one grill in it they like to grab each other.

Rotisserie The mods to the 7 in 1 worked great. I did it because with the EZ-Que Hodo last year we had problems at the games with wind blowing the heat away to fast. So I just cut a little and the Hobo cradle fit just fine. We have used it for three games and people around us who got samples said it was the best chicken they ever had. As a result of a direct fire that was quite close we now cook on the KK direct and the chicken comes out better. Jairby (GB) who has made 2 UDS & 1 BDS(85 gallon) said that the AZ BBQ people using the UDS which is always direct have found that their chicken just tasted better, which they said is a result of the chicken fat hitting the lump charcoal and vaporizing.

Lighting Lump On TheBBQGuru.com there is a section on lighting charcoal using 91% alcohol; sold at Wally World very cheap. He uses a syringe sucking up 50-cc to soak up the charcoal for about 15 seconds and throws in a match with lid of BGE open and bottom vent removed. Lights fast and has no left over bad products.
