  1. Tony, don't I remember a tag line from a cigarette commercial about those cigarettes being "... a silly millimeter longer ..."? Size matters.
  2. Thanks, Tony. I'm not a big breakfast guy. I like really simple for breakfast ... this morning I had a nice bowl of oatmeal with strawberries and blueberries.
  3. Not any more! Somehow I bet Susan knows. Don't ask me how, but I bet she knows!
  4. @Enginerd - That is one lovely location for an absolutely gorgeous KK BB! Congrats to you and the whole family. You are going to enjoy cooking out in that beautiful location like you could have never imagined. Again, CONGRATS! You know about the two position latch at this point. Enjoy!
  5. @ckreef - well, I just need to know one thing: Where do I go to sign up as your official taste tester? That's some kind of really tasty looking pizza pie cook! Beautiful crust and the toppings look positively scrumptious! I really like that browned cheese on top. Beautifully done! KUDOS!
  6. @ckreef - Every day is a struggle when you have a KK and a waistline that needs to be a little less today than yesterday. If it weren't for Dennis and his dadgummed great KKs, I"d be 180 pounds! That's my story and I'm sticking with it!
  7. This couldn't have happened to a nicer couple of folks! What I don't understand is how both Susan and Charles don't weigh 300 pounds! I gain weight just looking at pictures of their cooks! Congrats and kudos to Susan and Charles!
  8. Thank you, Charles! I actually kind of like leftovers, especially steak.
  9. Tony - I appreciate the feedback. It was a healthy meal … we're trying to eat healthier around ChezChef. Pete always likes seeing steak on a plate!
  10. @dstr8 - thanks. I think your quote is spot on.
  11. @Bruce Pearson - to borrow a phrase … COME ON DOWN!
  12. @Stile88 - those steaks were very tasty indeed! Normally, I am a steak purist … no steak sauce. This time I used some Chimichuri that was awfully tasty. I may try it again soon.
  13. Bruce - you can have a seat at my table anytime. Just give me 30 minutes notice to get the liquor store to deliver some more adult beverages. That goes for all you good KKers as well.
  14. They come when called! Followed me all through the store and just jumped in the car. I am certain they would do the same for you.
  15. @MacKenzie - all you have to do is pat the floor, whistle, and say "here little Strip Steak, here little Strip Steak!" It's worked all my adult life!
  16. Howdy KKers! Here it is Tuesday evening and I found a package of NY Strips on sale at Sam's Club today. They followed me home! They were so dadgummed cute! Here is a pic of the NY Strip in its natural state ... Here is the NY Strip After the first turn ... Here is the Money Shot complete with Pete the Salt Pig Supervising ... A Money Shot with just a bit tighter view ... And finally, the aftermath ... These were MONSTER strips ... and I had to wave the white napkin. Oh well, lunch tomorrow will be droolicious! Thanks for looking!
  17. I don't know about better heat transfer, but I do know that when you go to turn the steaks looking for grill marks, recovery time is really good.
  18. @Boz - I think you'll find heat soaking your KK before each and every low-n-slow cook really works well. I"ve done it for quite some time and it really gets rid of heat transients. I also heat soak my KK and its baking stone every time I use that ... pizzas, deserts, etc. I even let my small stone get heat soaked last evening on a simply chicken cook and it really sped things up. For my money, heat soaking is really the way to go.
  19. @Aussie Ora - Welcome aboard, Mate! I'm glad to see you over here. Have you thought about what color and what size works best for your foray into the KK world? You'll love it when it happens, Mate! This is a great place and Friend, you'll fit right in!
  20. Now Boys, he'll soon enough figure out resistance is futile! @Aussie Ora - make it easy on yourself! Just swim to the boat and jump in the live well.
  21. Now that was some kinda move! I really LOVE that trolley. That's the bomb! And the setting for your KK is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for the post! Now it's time to get that bad boy loaded with lump and cooking away! Congrats!
  22. Thanks, Charles. The stone just seemed like the logical thing to do. I think it really helped the process. Those breast were done in about 30 minutes at 350. Top and bottom cooking.
