I started out cotton balls and alcohol and swore by it. I then went to MAPP and realized what I had been missing. Recently I tried propane. The problem with propane is that it won't stay lit when the bottle is held upside down. MAPP doesn't have that problem. A simple MAPP torch is the best way to go. Also works great for lighting cigars and fireworks - LOL

Keep trying to hold them back tinyfish. Sooner or later they'll get on board with the food porn idea. It took me a year or two but now my family actually helps out with the pictures - probably so they can get to eating the food - LOL BTW nice cook

A really easy cook that came out better than I expected. I was especially pleased with the money shot. If you ever have any little people come and visit that want to help this would be a great cook for that.
-
Unfortunately I don't think Mrs skreef is going to enter this contest. Pizza is really my thing. Currently I have at least 3 more pizzas I want to enter so we're already going to be eating a fair amount of pizza this month. On top of that we are both entering cooks in the Guru August challenge so this month is a busy cooking/photography month.
-
I figured with all the awesome chefs around here I better up my game a notch or two.

Pull Apart Pizza Soft pull apart pizza bites with Parmesan, Mozzarella and Pepperoni. Ready to dip in your favorite pizza sauce.
-
I've never made this before but after seeing it on the Guru I knew it was going to be my first pizza challenge entry. A little bit of Internet research and here we go. Started with: 1/3 cup Olive Oil 2 Tbsp Italian Seasonings 1 tsp Garlic Powder 2 packages of pop can biscuits lined up and cut in 1/4's with a pizza cutter. Tossed them in the OO mixture. Added a bunch of pepperoni. 1 cup Parmesan Cheese 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese Mixed it all up and put in a greased bundt pan. Cooked on Prometheus at 350* for 40 minutes. A pull apart pizza with sauce for dipping. Would make an awesome game day pizza.

Thanks everyone. This was my first super thin steak cook. Once I made up my mind on times I didn't second guess. Another 10 seconds and they would have been too done. The fully heat soaked 550* CI helped - allowed me to get a decent crust without over cooking them.
-
Yes they would make a great steak sandwich. I decided on my timing and set my timer. I was going to go 30 seconds then 30 seconds. Glad I switched to 30/20 as another 10 seconds would have been too much.
-
A couple simple cooks. Nothing special just burgers. 50 Second Steak'ums So thin you can't really call them a steak. 550* CI skillet. Litterly 30 seconds on the first side. Flip for an additional 20 seconds then pull. They actually came out a nice md - md rare.

If I can get to the store after work I'll probably cook my first entry tonight. Bryan maybe you could start a separate "Bite Me" Entry Thread. This is were we would post a brief description and the 2 pictures. No other comment type posts should be in this thread. After the months end you can edit the original first post and add a poll so everyone can vote. This is how we are running the challenges on Kamado Guru. This format works really well and a fair number of KK forum members are already familiar with this. -
Nice looking steak cook.
-
Mine got named Prometheus. It was a few weeks after it's arival. I posted a picture of a really roaring steak cook and somebody suggested that name. I read all I could about that Greek God and it just made sense.
-
I liked that one.
-
Yea me too. Should have never mentioned it, we wouldn't have known. I suck at spelling so if it's wrong I just blame my spell checker.
-
Interesting on the potato flakes - will give it a try sometime.

You need the Komodo picture to show off the KK and the money shot to show off the pizza. -

I'm game. Haven't made a kamado pizza in a long time (ever since I got my Blackstone pizza oven) but I'm willing to give it a try. Are we talking one picture per entry or two pictures - one of pizza on the KK and a money shot. I vote for grill picture and money shot. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk -
Really great looking outcome. Will give this a try sometime.

Didn't know where to put this but here goes anyway. Kroger is doing a recall on 4 of its house brand spices due to possible Salmonella contamination. Ground Cinnamon Garlic Powder Course Ground Black Pepper Bac'n Buds If you have any of these Kroger brand spices I believe you can take them back for a refund.

Looks yummy.
