  1. Mine is rated at 2.1 lpm. At full open it's way to much smoke (from pellets) in my opinion anyway. About half output is probably the most I would ever run it at.
  2. Most duel outlet pumps have two separate billows inside. By completely capping one off you would eventually ruin that billow. You'd be better off with the single outlet version.
  3. That one is a duel outlet pump. Check out ACO 9601 which looks to be their largest single outlet pump.
  4. You wouldn't have fooled me. That looks way too new. Sort of like the new white KK interior. I've been cooking on my since this spring. Doesn't look like that anymore
  5. Can't wait to see what else you cook on it. Congratulations they are a fun cook.
  6. Dennis's pump is probably for the American market (110v). If I'm not mistaken Australia is 230v ?? With a different style plug. There is a chance Aussie will have buy his own pump. Sort of the same situation with American rotisserie motors compared to Australian rotisserie motors. Both me and Aussie could be wrong with this but if we're right he'll probably need the valve unless he can find an adjustable air pump.
  7. What??? When did I miss this? Or am I just getting old and senile?? I didn't know you had a Konro. By the looks of it it's a fairly new acquisition? Anyway awesome meal.
  8. Off hand I don't remember, I would have to measure them. It was 2 end panels and a middle panel just can't remember the length. One day I'm going to buy a new bigger set. Have them welded into 2 pieces and cut to fit without having to have the grate installed.
  9. Great pictures and great first cook. Made me laugh about your friends ribbing you on your initial fire starting skills.
  10. At this point 100% Fogo Premium Black Bag lump. Hot/Cold smoker if I want an additional smoke profile.
  11. 91% clear rubbing alcohol. But just go raid your liquor cabinet. Technically anything over 100 proof will light but grab some 151 or higher for better results.
  12. I bought the biggest single outlet pump from Fluval. About $25 USD. There are lot of smaller/cheaper pumps on the market.
  13. Yes that should work. You can't see them in the picture but there should be two connections on the back side that look like the connection on the right side. The valves control the air going out the back side connections. I believe Dennis is currently supplying a pump but not sure if it's compatible with your electricity. If you have to buy a pump get a decent sized one outlet pump.
  14. If you don't remove the smoke tube you stand the chance that "gunk" could eventually lock it in place making it extra hard to remove. A simple quarter turn twist and it comes right out. I also remove the air tube. A complete disassembly. The only part I don't remove is the guru port adapter. I have that screwed down with the set screw and is the only part that would require a tool to remove (tool supplied).
  15. In a 19" (most people have bigger KK's) a smoke pot doesn't work really well. I bought a nice small 1.5 qt CI pot and drilled my holes. The problem in a 19" table top is not really enough space in the fire basket to accommodate the small smoke pot. It worked really well one time. The next two times it didn't and so I gave up on it. I didn't preheat the CI ahead of time and that probably would have helped. The only real pain with the smoker is cleaning it. There are numerous products that help. ZEP 505 cuts rights through the build up and one day I'll order some brewers wash. Dealing with the air pump is about as much effort as dealing with the rotisserie motor and both are just not an issue. One day I'll have them both cranked up and do a smoked rotisserie cook.
  16. No learning curve. If you are used to a Big Joe a KK will be a bit easier. You already went through the learning curve with the Big Joe. No matter what size you choose you won't be disappointed with the purchase.
  17. Pellets definitely put it out. Can't wait to see the brisket.
  18. I would fire them up then fill the hopper half full. Run the pump on high 10-15 minutes until the smoke is really rolling out. At this point you know everything is good to go. Turn pump on low and it should keep going with a fine wisp of smoke for over 5 hours on a 1/2 load of pellets. Let us know how it works out.
  19. What you see on the bent tube is a SS collar that is the guru port adapter. A guru port is probably bigger than a dedicated smoker port. My KK is older and doesn't have a dedicated smoker port. Yes I can see where pellets would gum things up quicker than chips. Just need to clean it after each use. The up side to pellets is they burn longer and drop through the hopper tube easier.
  20. I think a little bit of both. The Fogo Premium Black Bag is nice hard lump and the KK was just set right. Although I started with a basket full of lump it wasn't overstuffed. If I had really loaded it up it probably would have gone another 6 hours.
  21. Not custom. It does have both the mounting plate for use with a dedicated smoker port and the guru port adapter. As for pellets they work really well. I think the general concensus is they burn longer than chips and are a more consistent burn.
