  1. Not Sanny The wingnuts tighten and hold the door is place. I let mine go when I sold my k.
  2. I have loaded up to the top of the basket just under the heat deflecter bracket. Cooked overnight butts and had enough left to do chicken for 1/1/2 hrs. Butts at 225 using Guru chicken at 350 no Guru. Didnot weigh but is was not quite a 10 lb bag Royal Oak. When I do the small chuck roll, 23 lbs I will use Wicked Comp. blend and weigh.
  3. Charlie on duty Here is Charlie checking for spills
  4. 3 chuck rolls a total weight of 78 lbs. Will freeze 2 and cook the smallest one this weekend a little 23 pounder.

All natural chicken acorn squash, sweet potato done direct at 350. Hickory chunks for smoke. Very good. The more I use this cooker the more impressed I am. It is one hell of a GREAT cooker. Thank you Dennis.
  7. It is hard to believe now little lump it uses. Here is a picture of 2, 8 lb butts on the KK, just getting started. Forgot to take pictures when done. Very little lump used. They are very good. Foodsavered them in 2 lb packages. Apple wood was added. The more I use the KK the more impressed I am. It is one hell of a good cooker. Thank you Dennis
  8. Re: Extrodinarilly Efficient ALL the charcoal was still REMAINING. I was truly amazed. This is one awesome and efficient cooker I must say. This was my first low and slow and I must say I was truly impressed. Tony I agree with Tony. It doesnot use much lump. It is by far the best cooker I have used. Have 2, 8 lbs butts on now. They will come off in about an hour. Picture to follow.

    Chuck roll

Ok all the talk of chuck roll I am going to have to try it. Called a butcher shop in Newton, we only have one, Kroger and Wal-mart are the others in town. He doesnot carry but can get me a case about 3 per case. Ordered a case about $2.20 per lb. Will get next week and post pictures when I cook. The only packer cut brisket at Wallyworld last week were in 6.5 tp 7 lbs range. Way to small.
  10. My Deluxe OTB delivered to Wichita, Kansas was $144.00. The freight line wanted more than that to delivery it to Newton, 25 miles north of Wichita. I picked it up and cooked butts for the friends that helped unload. I am totally happy with the unit.
  11. 2 one OTB and a Weber one touch. Oh Oh and a top and bottom of a #7 that may not count is it is a POS.
  12. Dennis & Tony Received mine today. Thanks DavidS
  13. Yes but who wants cracked and crumbling with tiles falling off unit? Maybe I should rethink that since I did and a lot of others. But after a burn in and 2 cooks I am a VERY HAPPY CAMPER with my Deluxe OTB.
  14. Old K table I had to use the hardware from old K on the replacement top & bottom. I sold the replacement to a BGE owner. I have the old cart from old K. I have not figured out how to hinge the top as yet. I may just make a different top that can be removed.
  15. Its pulled Very good: about 9 lbs meat.
  16. The temp was much easier to control that the old k. It adjusts much faster to small changes in draft door or damper top. After I unloaded and set it up I loaded with about 4 lbs lump with the grill empty and played with the controls. The ribs at 225 did not use the Guru just the low and slow opens on door, top a little less than 1/4 turn, less than 1/8 on low & slow. The butts I used the Guru at 225 at grill. Put them on at 9:30 pm off at 9:15 AM temp at 195. They are now in the ice chest resting. Will pull and post picture later. Happy owner, I plan on putting a better top on later. Works fair at storing lump in. Makes nice area to set things on while cooking as long as my dog is in the house. The old top is used as bird bath holder near the koi pond.
  17. 1st cook a slab of ribs rubbed with Wild Willys rub from Smoke & Spice book. 1st overnight 3 small butts same rub. They have about 1 hour to go.
  18. Ribs this afternoon. Three pork butts overnight. Some will go the friends that helped unload. Sunday will do a couple slabs of beef ribs.
  19. Ribs done direct I do them direct every once in a while. I use the upper dome grill and the dome temp at 190 to 195. I don't flip, mop or use foil. I like them this way adds crisper bark and grilled flavor. It does take longer to get done at the lower temp.

crappy welds? I must have missed something. Your welds are world class compared to my old POS. My OTB is on the way
  21. Great very happy for you. My Deluxe OTB should be here this friday or monday. I have not cooked low & slow since the end of December 2005 when my POS died. Will post pictures when it gets to Kansas. DavidS
