  1. Ok So if you want to have a fan with the Fireboard you need to purchase their fan control cable at $89usd. This cable allows you to plug in a 12v fan with a 2.5mm power adapter. You can purchase a fireboard fan for $59uss but it’s got a square connector so not perfect for the KK. The guru pit fan (medium) fits the KK. Their support team sent me this. “I can confirm that our fan is 12v and it does have a 2.5mm cord but I cannot confirm that it is compatible. Our products are made specifically to use with our controls so I cannot advise you to use these components with a Fireboard. Using them with another control will automatically void the warranty. “ So I suspect it works but I don’t know 100% sure. I will make do without a fan as Aussie says the KK doesn’t need it. The thermometer is all I need. I like my gadgets so it’s been hard for me to resist getting a fan but ultimately it’s probably waste of money in my situation Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hahaha it’s what a lot of us Aussies grew up with. It’s a pretty gross spread you put on toast or something to mask it’s disgusting taste hahaha I could never handle it but a lot of people love it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Actually, I think you can unscrew the left side and screw on the sharp end to get the meat on. I forgot about this other attachment. I used a knife to pierce the meat then pressure. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Totally agree with you Aussie. That said, the Fireboard has Bluetooth and wifi. Has been handy for cooks. I can check in when I am out. The charts are good too. Agree with the fan. I haven’t got one and will most likely give it a miss. I will find out for others in the forum wanting a fan with the fireboard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Hi guys I have a Fireboard as a cloud thermometer. Fireboard has their own fan but the guru viper pit fan fits perfectly in the KK. You can use their party fans with the Fireboard so long as it’s 12V and has a 2.5mm power adaptor. Can I ask the guru users out there if their fan has a 2.5mm adaptor. I did ask Fireboard support but they couldn’t tell me. I have emailed the guru guys too. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Jerky

Thanks Mac. It was bonfire that got the idea in my head. He asked if you could cook jerky in the kk. I said I wasn’t sure My brother and sister have been making biltong using home made contraptions. Then I say tryus and bosco’s great results. Thought I would give it a try. It was a good result. To me the texture was great. The kk was easy to keep temps at 70. Next time I would load up the basket though as towards the end, I could see temp slowly starting to drop. Most of the charcoal was done when I finished. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Oh I meant getting the meat onto the spit rod. The spit itself fit perfectly in the KK. I should have taken pictures of the setup as I believe someone recent was having trouble. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I wanted to try picanha using the roti spit. Must admit it was fiddly getting it onto the spit. Any tips appreciated. I used the basket splitter with the charcoal at the rear. A lot of fat dripped onto the other side of the basket where I had foil. Next time I may just use the full basket. I also forgot to season so had to do it afterwards. Family loved it. So does our dachshund who gets the leftovers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Jerky

Wanted to try making jerky. Recipe was 150ml teriyaki sauce 3tbs Worcestershire 2tbs paprika 1 tbs black pepper 1/2 tbs salt 2tbs chilli flakes 5tbs honey I used eye round. I got 2kg worth. Put in freezer for 30 mins and sliced it 5mm. I made two batches of the recipe above. One with chilli the other without. Marinade overnight. I used the basket splitter and put in half a basket. I used banksia cones to smoke. Got temp up to 70 degrees (centigrade). The KK kept the temp constant once I got to 70. It was the first time I was using the fireboard and having it cloud connected was great while I was out and about during the day. I cooked it for 4.5 hours. It turned it great. It was a great texture. My 4 yo daughter loved the non chilli one. She is addicted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. The FireBoard has been great so far. Doing jerky today and the charts are handy. Am at my son basketball and it’s good to see that temps are constant. You can get the fan cable for the fireboard and plug in other fans. The guru ones fit the KK. I will check if it works with the fireboard and let you know Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Haha I just notice his name. Hopefully it not fake but the admins on this group are pretty strict on accepting people in the group so should be fine. It’s pick up anyway so don’t part with cash unless you see it.
  23. If you want a fan you can also check out smart fire. It’s Australian. https://smartfirebbq.com/products/smartfire-bbq-controller It gets good ratings too theres a bloke in Henley brook selling his on the bbq Aust Facebook page. It’s new with assessories.
  24. I got it from https://www.fireboard.com/shop/fireboard-fbx11-thermometer/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwNGBvOaI2wIVVRSPCh0ebgw6EAAYASAAEgJ-8PD_BwE its in Perth but stuck with auspost at the moment. I got the 3 probe pack and also got 2 comp probes the comp probes are straight so I thought they would go through the kk probe holes easier As as I say, I didn’t get the fan with it. Will see how I go without the fan. So far I have been fine without it.
  25. Looks great - what a great first cook. I have just ordered a Fireboard for a thermometer. I was temped to get the fan with but didn't... I have found the temps to be stable on mine. I have done several boston butts over night. Not long ago, I did 4 on my 23" Admitted, I was nervous as my Maverick thermometer kept losing it's connection so I didn't have an alarm if the temp went askew. It didn't matter, the temps stay consistent even when I woke up the next morning. I have slept through several overnight cooks without a worry. I bought the Fireboard as it has bluetooth and wifi. Will see how that goes. I was talked out of buying a stoker or similar by others on the forum. So far, it's been fine for me for all my low and slows. I wonder if was the Perth afternoon seabreeze that got you at the 5 hour mark... though, I don't remember much wind on Sunday.
