  1. I got the 8" from them and it works great.
  2. Stores here (FL) have sale fliers that come out on Wed every week. I googled all the Store Co's in the area then bookmarked them. Every few months one of the stores will have ribs or butts on sale around $1 a pound. When low on KK feed I check the meat dept. on each web site, buy meat on sale and stash in the freezer. I buy chicken by the case the same way.
  3. It is still sold in stores today. Google "chili brick"
  4. Thanks. My bad. Moderator help welcome. Correct Chile to Chili
  5. Found on web. Modified chili powder, process, and notes. Anyone recall the grocery store chili bricks from the 40-50's? Good fast meal. 10 lb ground beef (85 pct) 12 cl garlic minced 1/4 c paprika 2 1/4 c chili powder (Gebhardt Chili Powder) 1/4 c ground cumin 1/2 t b/pepper 8 lg onions chopped (strong flavor onions not sweet onions) 1- Cook meat garlic and onions until done use no water, will form quite a lot of juice, but do not ladle off. 2- When done add paprika, chili powder, and cumin. Stir well and often while cooking (about 15 min longer over very low heat). 3- When done pour into (10-12) miniature loaf pans (5.75x3x2). Cool and freeze. 4- Remove from freezer and let pans release bricks. 5- Saran/foil wrap each brick and place 3-4 bricks in 1 gal ziploc bag. Suck bags then store in freezer until ready for use. On serving day for one brick add: 1 can chicken broth 1 can black beans 1 can Rotel tomatoes 2 #1 can tomato puree * salt to taste * Thicken if needed Notes: I order 5# pkg's (Keep in freezer) Gebhardt Chili Powder from: http://www.texmex.net/products/spices.htm#gebhardt Today's regular ground beef has enough fat it. Use leaner if you want, but to get flavor I suggest you prepare bricks according to this recipe and ladle off any fat you do not want when you thaw and have added beans and what ever else you want to. After freezing just pull off and discard fat that has floated to top. You then have nearly fat free chili, but not without the flavor! This is not a hot chili and as then you can modify (Hotness) for each pot of chili when you add the beans. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chili Dogs buns half to make 4 parts weiners cut horizontal, cut again vertical to make 4 strips that fit buns chili brick mix steak pans Place pans on KK to heat up. Put 4 pieces of bun face down on each pan (easier to cut) put 1 strip of weiner on each bun Ladel on chili Bring to temp. Serve with sides and Ice Tea. ..
  6. So.. How long do you have to put it in??
  7. Does this go good with the KK? http://www.chow.com/recipes/10946 Would have posted pic but don't know how. Moderator help welcome. INGREDIENTS 6 (1-inch-thick) slices Lime Pound Cake 6 scoops raspberry sorbet, either purchased or homemade 6 tablespoons sweetened flaked coconut, toasted and cooled INSTRUCTIONS 1. Heat a charcoal or gas grill to medium (about 350°F). 2. Place pound cake slices on the grill and close the lid. Grill until pound cake is lightly toasted and has grill marks, about 3 minutes. Flip slices, close the lid, and grill on the other side until toasted, about another 3 minutes. 3. Place grilled cake slices on 6 serving plates and top each with a scoop of sorbet. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the toasted coconut over each plate and serve.
  8. I suggest you wrap in foil then 3-4 layers of newspaper for long time heat retention. Also works for cold items.
  9. Re: Different models on 8'? As posted above the "BQRB308t, $116" works. Hope this helps.
  10. Lets hope we can keep the Viking source.
  11. Dug this from my web recipe stash. Turkey Leg Amusement Park 1 ltr Btl lemon-lime soda NOT DIET 2 T sugar 2 T hot sauce 1 T crushed red pepper flakes 1 T black pepper 1 lg sweet onion sliced 4 ea turkey legs 2 T homey 1 T steak seasoning Directions In a large pot, mix the lemon lime soda, sugar, hot sauce red pepper, pepper and onion. Place turkey legs in the mixture, and bring to a boil (yes, you are cooking Sprite). Cook 30-45 min. Remove onion slices from mixture, and arrange on prepared grill. Place turkey legs over the onions. Drizzle w/honey, and season w/steak sauce. Cook, turning once, 20 min/until a crisp browned crust has formed on the turkey legs. When smoking, arrange onions as directed above (they’ll eventually caramelize and burn. That’s OK,they are protecting your legs). Smoke 1.5-2 hrs, turn and smoke for another hour. They’ll come out so sweet (yet spicy), tender and juicy they just melt in your mouth. If using a smoker, cut the Sprite boil time down to 20-30 minutes. They’ll cook the rest of the way in the smoker.
  12. I think the ones at the Fair are pre boiled.
  13. Re: "8" Baskets By June Mine fits and works great. Dennis still needs to bill me for the extra end pins I ordered.
  14. Outstanding job Dave. Those are some great looking links.
  15. FoodSaver alternatives? I now use: Reclosable "Presto" Freezer bags with Color Seal Double Zipper and a straw from Mc' Ds Stick 1/2 of the straw into the bag. Move straw to side of bag. On table press seal top of bag over to the straw. Make one good suck on straw, cover straw hole with tongue, and exhale,. Remove tongue from straw, and do one more good inhale through straw, while extracting straw (with teeth), and sealing bag. So far the bags have worked great with no freezer burn. 1 gal size= 15 per box with green double seal seams I pre-freeze then seal in the bags.
