  1. She just married a guy who has never owned a grill. She gave him one for Christmas and he still hasn't put it together. I think I have my work cut out for me.
  2. Re: I want to see one! Hey Carl, I live in Smithland Ky about 2 hrs from Nashville, I would be glad to show off my Bronze Beauty. PM me and we can work out the details if you would like to come up. Roy
  3. T Rex - Actually I have on occasion checked for a pulse (She is 13 and tends to sleep alot anymore). Curly - Why would I want to wake her up? She is a great excuse. "Honey, I can't get on the treadmill right now. I can't disturb Vandy"
  4. Gee thanks Larry! I wasn't planning on going outside today. It's only going to get up to 24 deg. (thats cold here in KY). But now, after seeing that , I need to go out and cook.
  5. Condolences from the Garman household, it is always hard to lose a loyal and faithful friend.
  6. I use one that I had from my GD. Works great. Not sure that you actually need it though, I am sure others will chime in with what they use. Roy
  7. I have had good results getting a nice smoke flavor for short cooks using pellets in either a cast iron smoke pot or an aluminum foil pouch. Here is one source for them. http://www.bbqrsdelight.com/ They have a starter package that contains samples of all their different woods and a smoke pot. Roy
  8. A couple of my favorite rub sources: http://www.willinghams.com/ http://www.dizzypigbbq.com/
  9. Same here, no problems at all. roy
  10. Welcome to the club, but these folks here aren't much for believing around here. They pretty much demand pictures. Roy
  11. Welcome and I applaud your choice of color. I love my Bronze Beauty. Roy
  12. Nice, but for some reason it brought to mind "The Adams Family"
  13. Nice job! I could have used that back when I was learning this craft. Much better than the similar link at the bottom of the page. " Done in about 4 hrs. Use foil and finish with a high temp glaze"????
  14. Why didn't I think of that? If I could get the daughter's boyfriend to volunteer, I wouldn't need all of that expensive protective gear. Wait, did I just say that out loud?
  15. I only have the one ET-73, so I put it in the one I thought might finish first. When it reached 190 I started checking them all with my Thermapen.
  16. Try building a patio and I didn't want to wait 5 weeks for my Bronze Beauty. The poor thing is still tied to its pallet. But that hasn't hurt its cooking any!
  17. I don't notice a differance in flavor, but it does help hold the rub on the meat and creates a better bark in my opinion. And yes I rub, wrap in plastic wrap and let rest in the fridge overnight. Then I add a little more rub right before putting on the fire. Roy
  18. I don't use my coconut for hot fires. I save it for the low and slows, that is what my research lead me to believe it is best at. I use Royal Oak Lump for my hot fires. I light it with my MAPP torch and am at 500 or so in about 10 minutes.
  19. That looks much better than the last flank steak I did. I think I am going to have to start cooking mine seperate from the rest of the family's.
  20. As you can see here, they turned out not too bad . The ones on the upper grill finished first, the lower grill about 1.5 hours later, about 13 hrs. total at 220. So putting the smaller ones in the middle on the lower grill worked out pretty well. Sorry no finished pics things got a little hectic. But then who wants to see a bunch of foodsaver bags? Started with about 37 lbs finished with about 20lbs. I think some disappeared during the pull before it got weighed. Not quite sure where it went
  21. Well there was one in mine, but it may be something Dennis just started adding. I actually had gotten a few from jdbower for a very reasonable price already, and was surprised to find mine. You might want to check with him if you don't have one.
  22. It is for your thermometer probe wires to go through. Like this and yes you should plug it for best temp. control. You should have a rubber plug in the box of tools that came with your KK that will fit in it. Like this
  23. Put on 6 butts this morning ranging from 5 to almost 8 pounds. Gotta love how Sam's packages them. Put the smallest ones in the middle and the largest on the upper grill, thinking this might shield the smaller ones and even out the time. But with my luck this won't work and it will just make it harder to pull them off first
