  1. They look like banana prawns Aussie? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thank you Troble and jonj I Can’t chop on those bench tops. So we made this chopping board....... can’t bring myself to chop on this either..... so it’s a cheese board now. Maybe in a year. Next week will be a big transformation week with blackbut ceiling and paving being done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Lamb roast

Replace the wine with balsamic vinegar. It breaks down the fat beautifully...... or as well as. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Playing with the bench tops today. Working on burnishing a danish oil in to finish. It back fills between the grain with saw dust and wax. Pretty cool to watch it transform. Not sure yet how it will set. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Kamado Book

My wife found this today as she cleaned out the kids room. Must have been reading them bed time stories with it when they were 3. 10 years ago. [emoji1787] Anyone seen this book before? There’s no date stamped but it’s got to be 70’s/ 80’s? This might help you Oakland. I thought this was an interesting technique suggestion. Not sure Dennis would agree. 6. Well done Mayor. There is no way I could have let him take it back to sit in their depot for another week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. You bet they do Mac. Here are some updates photos after a big couple of days. Kitchen bench with cut out for gasser Croatian limestone cladding. Apparently this is what the White House is built from. Can you tell? [emoji3166]. I can’t. Burning off some rubbish. Blackbut ship lap ceiling cladding arrives over Easter to go up on Tuesday and the capping, coping, pool clean also happens Tuesday. Could have this hardscaping wrapped up in 2 weeks. 8. Here’s the tradies lunch. It went down a treat. All parties loved it. Expecting high quality craftsmanship in return! [emoji2957] And got it. Stone masons cutting corner joins at 45 degrees. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Lamb roast

That’s a great look cool alimac. Lamb is my favourite. Plenty of options for you Bard. I’m liking it cooked to medium at the moment. Shoulder has more of the connective tissue and the alimac method is best on shoulder. Legs medium, and cutlets, have to be rare. Good luck and post the pics Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. That’s a huge improvement Bard. It looks great Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. There will be a couple of nice cutting boards from the off cuts Jon.Today there were two chippies, four stone masons, one sparky. Same tomorrow plus a plumber to give me gas to the cooker over the Easter weekend. These are expensive days. Tomorrow being Thursday before Easter I’ve promised them all a cook up on the KK. My chippies are keen offset smokers and kettle cooks, and my Croatian stone masons cook everything over fire. They’ve requested smoke flavour from the red gum off cuts. Chook thighs and lamb shanks are on the menu. These guys rock up to every worksite with a plug in George Forman grill for their smoko! Here it is tucked away for the night....... on top of their microwave. What happened to the peanut butter sandwich in a paper bag? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Post the plant list please Troble. I am interested. That citrus sounds very cool. BTW, Did you know you can do this with any tree? It’s training the tree to grow two dimensionally along a wall through clever pruning techniques. I’ve thought about taking some topiary/ espalier lessons to better understand these techniques. A suggestion for your fresh herb mix- fresh mint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Tony I think that was more from the bristles in stainless steel wire brushes. They don’t break down easily. The steel wool is mostly iron and corrodes pretty quickly. However, I do remember reading from Dennis that the steel wool can react to the stainless steel grates and cause pitting in the grate if the wool fibres are left in contact with them. Steel wool is not recommended. PBW is my new favourite. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. That’s great camp cooking. Not sure half a barrel of rosemary fits into the mobile camping list. Did you chomp your way through that? [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. That’s a funny story syzygies. Do you think the wheat packers could have been shooting rabbits? Or making their own ammo? One think that amazes me about the US is their gun culture and the ease of access to firearms. It can be intimidating for an outsider if you are not used to this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. This is when it all comes together. What’s that taller standard tree with the purple flower? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks Steve and Troble. This is the start of my bench top. And oiled. It was going to be a chopping board bench top. Don’t think I can chop on this now......... maybe after the first year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. That’s an excellent first cook Eric. Well done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Limestone cladding starts Tuesday. This living with everything piled onto my deck and a narrow pathway to the KK is wearing thin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Lamb shoulder rotisserie this Sunday evening. And here it is on the turn while I carefully watch my beer. This was good... sorry no plated photos, gobbled up too quick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I’ve been refreshing too much lately with the extra time at home. These 3 oils had minimal difference. The danish oil ended a fraction lighter. This was after 3 coats applied with steel wool. I’ll try some different application techniques. Interesting product. As the oiled absorbed the surface had a very smooth waxy feel. Water beaded and I’ve read this wax can take 28 days to set properly Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Welcome Eric, I look forward to seeing your restored photos... and cooks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I’m going to experiment on the underside of my bench tops with 3 different oils from the same producer. The difference is UV and mould inhibiters added to the furniture and decking oil, and a hardened added to the decking oil. This is 5 minutes after the first coat of 3 oils with a rag. This timber is a hard wood known as river red gum, aka Queensland Blue Gum. It’s pretty dense. I noticed early that the heartwood absorbs this oil 10 times deeper than the outer timber. The outer timber is the trees second defensive barrier to the bark and repels water,,,,, and oil. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Troble I see you have a smooth concrete finish. If you want hidden stoppers and you don’t want your KK to move much. Maybe a couple of large galvanised washers under your wheels will be enough to hold it in place...... and easy to move and re set the position if you want to. You would only need to to set 2 wheels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Troble I love the rotisserie. Probably my most used accessory, however, I don’t cook a brisket as well as you do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
