@RokDok see you got some of the pro q coco good job it burns well i had a pallet delivered with 12 bags of normal.
The KK takes ages to go through it, i have used 1 bag of charcoal and 3 boxs of coco this includes the burn in (7.5 hours).
Also like you i have been spending out on "extras" ever since

Ash the only tip I have for you is to dive in and cook as much as you can.
High heat and low heat, direct and indirect. Distance from the fire.
With practice you get to know what your KK can do.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk@AAAsh you have just echoed what was myself a few weeks ago.
Great choice of color and pebble (same as me) i cannot believe this grill, you are indeed in for a treat if you have the same experience as me.
Every family member says everything i have cooked so far is better full stop and i agree not just meat but potatoes / bread / veg / pizza a full range of goods. I could write for ages telling you this and that but you are about to understand all this for yourself shortly. My enthusiasm for cooking outside has gone back to 30 years ago i am loving it, I bet I have barly scrapped the surface of what this grill can do as yet, and on top of that the peeps on here are a fantastic group to help you out.
Exciting times
All the best

If you didn't smell solvent any more you did it right.
Apologies English sense of humour 😁 I seem to have a compulsion to do it all again with more beer.

No, you do not need to use the heat deflector, put it into storage, most of us never ever use it. It will take a lot longer to heat up your KK and burn up a lot of charcoal in the process. Have fun with the pizza.
I have been wondering but no more i have not even unwrapped mine yet

I'd vote a brisket for the first cook or you could go the whole hog, literally.
well to be fair i think you are right i normally cook a brisket every 2 to 3 weeks it would be a interesting comparison (i think i already know the answer tho) but to get a good full packer here in the UK is hard any links @RokDok @Sir Bill @Braai-Q @tekobo

Well while i am awaiting some daylight here are some more pics......
I don't want to say what everyone else has said but.... this is indeed a Bentley compared to any other car manufacture (insert lawsuit here)
pic 4 shows a problem i had not looked out for, a added pallet N.B.Ask the delivery driver to off load the KK before he leaves i don't think it clearly shows how high this was now off the ground my son in pic's 10 + 11 is around 20stone and he was slipping on the ply as we offloaded her.
Whew the cabinet should be a breeze 💨

I am pretty certain that I have read on the forum that one should never remove the firebox. It is what you are referring to as "the inner concrete ring". It holds the SS charcoal basket.
Yes @MacKenzie thats exactly what i needed to know i will check when its light here to see if it has moved during transit but i don't think it has,I certainty will not be removing it.
We took everything else out to lighten it for the ramp of death. Pictures to follow on the other thread.

Found it! This is a short video of the sliding basket config for the 32. https://www.instagram.com/p/BtmADV0nkz0/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet and the home page for the 42 on the KK website shows the various basket configs if you click through the photos.
Amazing thank you @tekobo

I haven't owned a 42 but, for all other KKs I would expect to fill a basket full of charcoal to do the burn in. With the sheer mass of the 42 I would go for a full basket as per picture 1.
For configs of the slider, I think there may be a video on Dennis' instagram feed from when he first introduced the slider. Will take a look...
Exactly right.
Thank you @tekobo

OK i think bottom inner concrete ring is the firebox and the basket is just that a charcoal basket that can be taken out after many cooks where as the concrete ring stays put
I will check first thing tomorrow to make sure it has not moved during transit.
If i am wrong please chip in thank you.

I type this with a stiff back and a big grin i have got the old girl Onyxia off the pallets and onto the ground now, i have never owned a grill like this and i am easily confused
The burn in, do i just leave in the charcoal basket on its own picture 1 or with the slider divider attached to it picture 2. (Assume full load of charcoal so no attachment attached to it.)
I have had a look and i cant see a definitive explanation of all the configurations for a 42. So far i see a basket with a attachment that allows you to slide dividers left and right with various inserts on top to shut off other sections so you only fill the centre of the basket. i thought it would be a 50/50 left right split so as i am unsure of everything i thought best to ask.
If the slider config in pic 2 is removed i have seen a video then attaching 2 x upright legs to the basket with a clip on floor so you can then put stone diffuses on.
Last question for now, is pic 1 also referred to as a firebox (again i assume yes but best to ask)
Thanks all

I've had a busy week. Then I come on here and find out that you wrestled it from the Somali pirates!
Looking forward to the grand reveal.
I assume the goat is in the garden already?
Pirates dealt with ☠️
I have cunningly lured our son out of bed early with the promise of a bacon sandwich and whatever steak he would like for next weekend, so we can release the Beast off of the pallets.I did not want to attempt it on my own.
As far as the Goat goes Helper number 3 (see pic 2) is looking very guilty and full !
