  1. And what about this rack standing on top of the charcoal basket? Something to do with the charcoal basket splitter/reducer? Which, by the way, does not come with instructions. What am I missing?
  2. OK, good to know. Happily, I did unwrap the door for precisely the reason your mention.
  3. Before my iPad loses power and before I have to deal with some other chores I’ll post these potentially embarrassing questions. What is the stainless steel drawer on the left of the KK? What are the four holes on the bottom left of the firebox? Thank you
  4. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was unpacking yesterday and could not figure this out. Duh!! One of these is much stiffer than the other. Had a bit of trouble getting it into those holes on the side bracket. Just started the burn-in.
  5. GRENDEL arrived about an hour ago!! Thanks to plywood, pallet jack, and a very helpful driver it is sitting on the patio awaiting uncrating. Photos will follow when I have some time, I promise. We have a bunch of other things going on today and tomorrow.
  6. How exciting! I guess I’ll just have to be a little more patient. I’m now scheduled for Friday.
  7. Congratulations! It looks great. I am getting seriously impatient. Frontline freight still has mine, somewhere in Massachusetts according to the last tracking info. There were delays in the Midwest. Hopefully, I’ll get the scheduling phone call early this week. Now that I’ve stopped working remotely, the only delivery day that works for me is Friday - unless they can bring it at 6PM one evening. Wish I had that Kubota!!
  8. Pushed back even more. ETA to unloading facility (presumably New Jersey) is now June 3; final ETA, June 7. Since Friday is the only day I’m not scheduled to work, that means June 11 would be the first day I’d be home for a delivery.
  9. Picked up a couple of 4x8 1/2 inch plywood boards yesterday, but just checked on the KK delivery and see they have pushed it back to June3. 😪
  10. Thanks to you both. I have a jar of the Huy Fong. It is fine for when we want more of a sauce, but is not a paste like the Lan Chi. I’ve downloaded the recipe for future use.
  11. Mouthwatering products. Sorry for going off-topic but . . . I was hoping Mala might have a replacement for something that has been gone from the local shelves and Amazon for at least a year - Lan Chi chili paste with garlic. This is very thick, not like chili garlic sauce or sambal oelek. I just ordered a jar of Dynasty Thai chili garlic paste, so I’ll see how that compares. Syzygies, do you have any recommendations? Thanks, and sorry again jeffshoaf for hijacking the thread.
  12. Apparently not. Mine is with Frontline. It has been “in transit” since 5/18. The tracking info is: Status: LINE HAUL UNIT DELAYED DUE TO BACKLOG WHILE AT THE LAX HUB Estimated Delivery Date: Wednesday, 05/26/2021 It goes to Elizabeth, NJ and once it is at their unloading terminal final delivery can be scheduled. I will call them tomorrow. Hopefully, you’ll get some information too.
  13. I have to assume that ours will be on the same truck. The initial trucking info says ETA next Wednesday. Maybe it is too optimistic to think that will be it, but certainly before Memorial Day would be great. We were married on the Sunday of that weekend, 14 years ago. I’m telling my wife it is her wedding anniversary gift.
  14. MacKenzie: My wife and I thank you for the first laugh of the day!
  15. Thanks. Looks like Home Depot this weekend
  16. I haven’t called yet but the shipping info gave an expected ETA of May 27. I’m hoping to schedule for mid or late in the afternoon, so I don’t have to cancel any patient appointments, lol. BTW, what state are you in?
  17. Thank you! Any news C6Bill and GrillnBrew?
  18. Received the famous three emails earlier today!! Troble: The shortest route from the driveway to the patio goes over crushed stones, so I’ll need the plywood. The other way around the house to the back is over grass, but there is a slope away from the house on the side so I think that will be a bigger issue. I know I saw something about the necessary thickness - is it 3/8”? Are there standard lengths? What should I be asking for? Thank you.
  19. Add mine to the list. Would be thrilled if it gets here by Memorial Day!
  20. Yup, my shipping notice from Dennis came very early this morning. Hey Forrest: I’m real curious if the trucking company will have a pallet jack or something to move the KK to its resting place.
  21. Too bad. If you change your mind about terra blue let me know.
  22. GrillnBrew: Fun to track it, even if it doesn’t get here any faster. We’re getting the terra blue; what color is yours? If it’s autumn gold, wanna swap??
  23. Hey C6Bill and GrillnBrew: Did you get any shipping information? Are you tracking the vessel? Thanks.
  24. Hey Tyrus: I was a little confused about how you knew I bought a grill cover. Then I realized what’s going on. I should have been more precise in my first post. I have a grill gazebo where I’ll place the KK. However, you are also correct. In fact I did buy a Sunbrella grill cover from Dennis. BTW, I guess we are almost neighbors. Wonder if there are any KKs in Rhode Island. Syzygies: I was emailing and using whatsapp with Dennis. As far as I know my wife did not call him. But she has a funny look on her face right now, lol.
  25. I'm very excited to join this elite community! @C6Bill - Are there many other KK owners in this part of the country? Maybe we can set up a southern New England KK owners group. @MacKenzie - Yes I do. Also, hard-working and full of surprises. She was outside with me for a couple of hours on Sunday helping to clean the Fire Magic. When I started buying Japanese knives a couple of years ago she embraced the change and now uses nothing but. I'm a lucky guy. 😁
