  1. After a few delays traveling cross-country our 32” was at long last unloaded at the final shipping terminal in Massachusetts on June 7 or 8, and I scheduled delivery for Friday the 11th. The expected delivery time was between noon and 2PM but the driver called at about 10:45AM to tell us he was 30 minutes away. Fortunately, we were finishing our errands and were home in 10 minutes. The driver was great. The crate was unloaded. Others have commented about not appreciating the size until it is right in front of you. I showed him where it needed to go around back. Two 4x8 pieces of plywood were already in place over the crushed stones on the side of the house. He agreed to help and away we went leapfrogging the plywood until we reached the patio. Perhaps, a half hour total. He tried to turn down the tip, but we insisted he take it. He was worth every penny. I did not have any burly helpers, and did not want to wait to assemble a team, so I proceeded to uncrate on my own. Really impressed with how well everything was packed and secured! After unbolting the sides of the crate from the base it was obvious that I could not lift it up and over the KK on my own. I took off the slats from the front of the crate which allowed me to tilt the rest backwards and drag it away. Not ideal doing this alone, but doable nonetheless - even by someone who is not an exemplar of muscularity, lol. After pondering a while, I decided to take the supplied crowbar and remove the pieces of wood in front of the front wheels. Wasn’t sure that was correct but didn’t see any other way of rolling the grill off the platform. I imploded the center support box - I found that quite enjoyable. My wife came to give me a hand. We rocked it a bit, pushed, and it rolled off the wheel supports (not sure what else to call these). We must have turned the KK so the rear wheels got around the front supports as we moved it towards the ramp but I don’t recall exactly. Down the ramp and onto the patio for unwrapping. Opening the lid and removing each item was embarrassingly exciting. Even after all I read on these forums, I was not ready for the heft of the grill grates and the other pieces. I’m still not sure why there are four heat deflectors. Here are some of the photos, not sure why several imported rotated. Sorry, 😣.
  2. Great color choice flashdaddy! Grendel arrived last Friday but I haven’t had time to describe the arrival. I’ll be posting the details soon. I was also coming from a BGE - a large 12-year-old that I sold about 2 weeks ago.
  3. Has anyone directly compared the Adams CS3 to the Meguiar’s Hybrid Spray wax? I’m curious about the longevity of the shine and hydrophobic properties. Are there any other items I should be looking at?
  4. I tried to paste a link directly to the Instagram video BOC is referring to but could not. Here is the link to tekobo’s 2020 post: “Found it! This is a short video of the sliding basket config for the 32. https://www.instagram.com/p/BtmADV0nkz0/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet “ Makes sense to me. Hope it helps, Remi. Raining here now so I’ll wait to put mine in place.
  5. Same question. Would love to see some photos of what the new 32” basket splitter should look like. Hopefully, I’ll have time to figure this out after work today. I was doing the burn-in yesterday and couldn’t put it in place.
  6. Jadeite: I’ll look at that again tomorrow when I’m feeling fresher. This has been a very busy day. Grendel has been at about 550F for a couple of hours. So far no tiles popped.
  7. I did not fully unwrap the heat deflectors - there are 4. Two are rectangular, two have a half-moon curve. I haven’t seen any other pieces that would slip into notches on the charcoal basket. Could those be wrapped up with the deflectors?? Maybe this is all academic since I’ve decided to follow the advice on these forums and go without deflectors. After a dozen years with a BGE I hope to make the transition without too much trouble. Here is a better photo with everything in the charcoal basket reducer package. Apart from instructions, is anything missing? And thanks for taking the time on a Sunday afternoon. Much appreciated.
  8. And what about this rack standing on top of the charcoal basket? Something to do with the charcoal basket splitter/reducer? Which, by the way, does not come with instructions. What am I missing?
  9. OK, good to know. Happily, I did unwrap the door for precisely the reason your mention.
  10. Before my iPad loses power and before I have to deal with some other chores I’ll post these potentially embarrassing questions. What is the stainless steel drawer on the left of the KK? What are the four holes on the bottom left of the firebox? Thank you
  11. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was unpacking yesterday and could not figure this out. Duh!! One of these is much stiffer than the other. Had a bit of trouble getting it into those holes on the side bracket. Just started the burn-in.
  12. GRENDEL arrived about an hour ago!! Thanks to plywood, pallet jack, and a very helpful driver it is sitting on the patio awaiting uncrating. Photos will follow when I have some time, I promise. We have a bunch of other things going on today and tomorrow.
  13. How exciting! I guess I’ll just have to be a little more patient. I’m now scheduled for Friday.
  14. Congratulations! It looks great. I am getting seriously impatient. Frontline freight still has mine, somewhere in Massachusetts according to the last tracking info. There were delays in the Midwest. Hopefully, I’ll get the scheduling phone call early this week. Now that I’ve stopped working remotely, the only delivery day that works for me is Friday - unless they can bring it at 6PM one evening. Wish I had that Kubota!!
  15. Pushed back even more. ETA to unloading facility (presumably New Jersey) is now June 3; final ETA, June 7. Since Friday is the only day I’m not scheduled to work, that means June 11 would be the first day I’d be home for a delivery.
  16. Picked up a couple of 4x8 1/2 inch plywood boards yesterday, but just checked on the KK delivery and see they have pushed it back to June3. 😪
  17. Thanks to you both. I have a jar of the Huy Fong. It is fine for when we want more of a sauce, but is not a paste like the Lan Chi. I’ve downloaded the recipe for future use.
  18. Mouthwatering products. Sorry for going off-topic but . . . I was hoping Mala might have a replacement for something that has been gone from the local shelves and Amazon for at least a year - Lan Chi chili paste with garlic. This is very thick, not like chili garlic sauce or sambal oelek. I just ordered a jar of Dynasty Thai chili garlic paste, so I’ll see how that compares. Syzygies, do you have any recommendations? Thanks, and sorry again jeffshoaf for hijacking the thread.
  19. Apparently not. Mine is with Frontline. It has been “in transit” since 5/18. The tracking info is: Status: LINE HAUL UNIT DELAYED DUE TO BACKLOG WHILE AT THE LAX HUB Estimated Delivery Date: Wednesday, 05/26/2021 It goes to Elizabeth, NJ and once it is at their unloading terminal final delivery can be scheduled. I will call them tomorrow. Hopefully, you’ll get some information too.
  20. I have to assume that ours will be on the same truck. The initial trucking info says ETA next Wednesday. Maybe it is too optimistic to think that will be it, but certainly before Memorial Day would be great. We were married on the Sunday of that weekend, 14 years ago. I’m telling my wife it is her wedding anniversary gift.
  21. MacKenzie: My wife and I thank you for the first laugh of the day!
  22. Thanks. Looks like Home Depot this weekend
  23. I haven’t called yet but the shipping info gave an expected ETA of May 27. I’m hoping to schedule for mid or late in the afternoon, so I don’t have to cancel any patient appointments, lol. BTW, what state are you in?
  24. Thank you! Any news C6Bill and GrillnBrew?
