  1. Picked up a couple of 4x8 1/2 inch plywood boards yesterday, but just checked on the KK delivery and see they have pushed it back to June3. šŸ˜Ŗ
  2. Thanks to you both. I have a jar of the Huy Fong. It is fine for when we want more of a sauce, but is not a paste like the Lan Chi. Iā€™ve downloaded the recipe for future use.
  3. Mouthwatering products. Sorry for going off-topic but . . . I was hoping Mala might have a replacement for something that has been gone from the local shelves and Amazon for at least a year - Lan Chi chili paste with garlic. This is very thick, not like chili garlic sauce or sambal oelek. I just ordered a jar of Dynasty Thai chili garlic paste, so Iā€™ll see how that compares. Syzygies, do you have any recommendations? Thanks, and sorry again jeffshoaf for hijacking the thread.
  4. Apparently not. Mine is with Frontline. It has been ā€œin transitā€ since 5/18. The tracking info is: Status: LINE HAUL UNIT DELAYED DUE TO BACKLOG WHILE AT THE LAX HUB Estimated Delivery Date: Wednesday, 05/26/2021 It goes to Elizabeth, NJ and once it is at their unloading terminal final delivery can be scheduled. I will call them tomorrow. Hopefully, youā€™ll get some information too.
  5. I have to assume that ours will be on the same truck. The initial trucking info says ETA next Wednesday. Maybe it is too optimistic to think that will be it, but certainly before Memorial Day would be great. We were married on the Sunday of that weekend, 14 years ago. Iā€™m telling my wife it is her wedding anniversary gift.
  6. MacKenzie: My wife and I thank you for the first laugh of the day!
  7. Thanks. Looks like Home Depot this weekend
  8. I havenā€™t called yet but the shipping info gave an expected ETA of May 27. Iā€™m hoping to schedule for mid or late in the afternoon, so I donā€™t have to cancel any patient appointments, lol. BTW, what state are you in?
  9. Thank you! Any news C6Bill and GrillnBrew?
  10. Received the famous three emails earlier today!! Troble: The shortest route from the driveway to the patio goes over crushed stones, so Iā€™ll need the plywood. The other way around the house to the back is over grass, but there is a slope away from the house on the side so I think that will be a bigger issue. I know I saw something about the necessary thickness - is it 3/8ā€? Are there standard lengths? What should I be asking for? Thank you.
  11. Add mine to the list. Would be thrilled if it gets here by Memorial Day!
  12. Yup, my shipping notice from Dennis came very early this morning. Hey Forrest: Iā€™m real curious if the trucking company will have a pallet jack or something to move the KK to its resting place.
  13. Too bad. If you change your mind about terra blue let me know.
  14. GrillnBrew: Fun to track it, even if it doesnā€™t get here any faster. Weā€™re getting the terra blue; what color is yours? If itā€™s autumn gold, wanna swap??
  15. Hey C6Bill and GrillnBrew: Did you get any shipping information? Are you tracking the vessel? Thanks.
  16. Hey Tyrus: I was a little confused about how you knew I bought a grill cover. Then I realized whatā€™s going on. I should have been more precise in my first post. I have a grill gazebo where Iā€™ll place the KK. However, you are also correct. In fact I did buy a Sunbrella grill cover from Dennis. BTW, I guess we are almost neighbors. Wonder if there are any KKs in Rhode Island. Syzygies: I was emailing and using whatsapp with Dennis. As far as I know my wife did not call him. But she has a funny look on her face right now, lol.
  17. I'm very excited to join this elite community! @C6Bill - Are there many other KK owners in this part of the country? Maybe we can set up a southern New England KK owners group. @MacKenzie - Yes I do. Also, hard-working and full of surprises. She was outside with me for a couple of hours on Sunday helping to clean the Fire Magic. When I started buying Japanese knives a couple of years ago she embraced the change and now uses nothing but. I'm a lucky guy. šŸ˜
  18. Hello everybody. Iā€™m doing things a little backwards. Instead of registering here first, asking some questions, and then buying a KK, I pulled the trigger yesterday on a 32. We started lusting after the KK a few weeks ago after seeing that behemoth at the Malibu vacation home the Kardashians were renting (I know, please donā€™t judge). I thought a 23 would work, but my wife convinced me to go for a 32. I contacted Dennis yesterday with a few questions about future availability, just before starting to celebrate my birthday. Long story short, he told me about a cancelled order for a 32 in terra blue on the ship. It wasnā€™t our first color choice, but after reading what others have written here we said letā€™s do it. A bird in hand . . . . Happy birthday to me. Now for a question. Iā€™ve been using a large BGE for 12-13 years. Iā€™ve also had a Fire Magic Diamond Echelon 790 for about 6 years. I cook with the BGE more than the gas grill. I think the KK could and should replace both. The KK will live under a large grill cover where the Fire Magic is sitting now. Selling a used BGE is not unusual. However, to my surprise after a couple of hours on the internet I could not find a single used Fire Magic grill for sale - eBay, Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, some BBQ forums. I suppose I can simply put it on asking for my dream price and see what happens. Does anybody have an idea about what I should ask for this? Thanks.
