  1. Hey nice lookin' eats dude! Been a long time since we have seen your pink grill in a photo too! heeheheeh -=Jasen=-
  2. Per the definition I found for them, they are ham shanks with some of the meat surrounding the bone left on...no skin and most of the fat removed. I am guessing maybe a bi-product of boneless hams or the likes. I would think you could make your own, though there would be a lot of waste since these are minus the skin and fat. But if you were buying shank ends for carnitas, you could leave some meat around the bone for pork wings. -=Jasen=-
  3. Man, those look good! I want some!! -=Jasen=-
  4. Very well could have been a Coca Cola product. They make many products only sold in overseas markets.....and I mean some very strange products too. Only place you can sample them that I know of, (in the US) is the Coca Cola museum's sample room. I know there is one in Atlanta and it seems like I remember one in Las Vegas too. It is interesting what beverages are popular in other cultures. -=Jasen=-
  5. Thanks! Wow, that is a lot of lemon in it.....tonic lemonade..hehehe! Gotta make it taste better than the store bought stuff. And FYI for anyone who suffers from leg cramps....the stuff works great for that. -=Jasen=-
  6. Re: pict Man, how about some more pics of that kitchen.....looks awesome! -=Jasen=-
  7. You don't run it at freezer temps. That is why the extra thermostat is used. You can pick them up at most homebrew shops for that purpose. You plug the freezer power plug into it and the thermostat cycles it at frig temps. Folks do this as it usually works out cheaper and with more room. -=Jasen=-
  8. I jealously agree! Man, six homebrew beers on tap...that is a dream! -=Jasen=-
  9. Guess I should have said they would require co2 in a dispenser like the one the post is about......as the Heineken kegs come preloaded. Yeah, the spout on the can is fine provided you drink it fairly quick....hehehe...not to much problem there. I mainly bought that cheap co2 dispenser for using with homebrew since it was small. Don't have room currently for a spare frig and the wife doesn't want to hear about putting one on the back porch..hehehe....so at that time, it was one of the few options. What I would love now is to get a mini frig that would take the place of my garbage compactor (hate that stupid thing). Only thing I have found so far is a wine storage frig replacement for a compactor. Probably best if I just move into a new house with more beer space....that is logical right? hehe -=Jasen=-
  10. Guess I will have to stick to wanting a bigger kegerator then...hehe...I am not a fan of Heineken. But on the CO2 thing, that should not affect freshness. Never had a problem on that with my cheap mini dispenser or with full sized corny kegs. Oxygen is what ruins beer, so provided the CO2 doesn't run out, that should not be an issue. -=Jasen=-
  11. Re: Check out my new toy.... There are several other breweries that use mini kegs. Spatan, Warstiener, and Bitburger (I think Dinkel Acker also...not positive) are a few. Only thing is these require a CO2 cartridge to dispense. BTW, here is a dispenser that works with the kegs I listed above and Heineken. http://mugwarrior.com/2007/11/05/mini-b ... dispenser/ http://www.abt.com/product/31723.html?source=froogle This is the mini keg dispenser I purchased from the homebrew shop many years ago. I rarely use it anymore as it tends to drip and you have to keep the keg in your frig. But it was cheap and all that was available back then.
  12. Way back in the day, a fellow tech at the computer shop we got started at had one of these http://www.beermeisters.com/general.html Not sure how long it would keep a keg, but it was nice, cold and fresh when I was over there Only downside to most of these is that they are slightly too short for a cornelius keg (soda), which is the kind of keg we use for homebrew. Usually you have to make your own out of the mini frigs that don't have a freezer as there are a few slightly taller models. It's on my list to make...hehehe. http://www.kegkits.com/kegerator1.htm -=Jasen=-
  13. This is getting closer to the size beer dispenser I need! hehehe http://www.kegerators.com/ -=Jasen=-
  14. And hence the reason it became tradition for people to place lemon or lime on the corona bottles...to cover the smell. I freakn hate that when I order a Dos Equis dark and they put a damn lemon on it...argh...it is not even in a clear bottle....but don't even try to explain that one to them! Don't know for sure, but have read that skunked beer is not as common anymore since a lot of larger breweries now use hop extracts. But then again, most beers I drink are not made at major breweries...hehehe...at least not any US ones. -=Jasen=-
  15. Actually that is not even an option to change nor is it even noted anywhere in the admin setup area. I will leave mine open and see, but I have never noticed that happening to me before. But I also use the remember me feature....so that maybe why. And I know what you mean about the crazy password stuff....same deal for me working at a DOE site except I have 6 separate password protected systems I routinely access....argh!!
  16. Now why on earth would they design that beautiful fireplace with angle iron? Before I did that, I would use some form of ornate cast iron shelving arms. Or have someone custom make you some fire dogs with two levels...one for the fire logs and an upper level to hold the grate (could even make the top portion removable so they would not be in there all the time.) But what would be easier and nicer looking is to use a stone lip all the way around the inside for that purpose? Looks like the large middle stone could just be pushed in an inch or so all the way around to accomplish that task. From the pics, it looks like you stopped cementing the stones at that area too...is that correct? -=Jasen=-
  17. Very nice outdoor living area JB! Too nice to bury that pic on a cooking accessory thread....so I gave it a separate thread. -=Jasen=-
  18. Re: Cooking technique question. Hehe, how about the cooking technique section? hehe -=Jasen=-
  19. One more thought. Was reading Firemonkey's suggestion about the hole in the side again and thought this would really be cool if you had a spring loaded pin on one side. Have a fixed pin on one side that slides into the hole, then have a spring loaded pin on the other side (or at least a movable one that locks into place). After my experience today, I think drilling horizontal holes in the sides (1/2" deep) would be easier and less obvious. Anyway, just more suggestions/ideas in case some manufacturer of grill accessories decides to make them...hehe. -=Jasen=-
  20. Finished! Ok, had a cold front move in this evening and it got down to 92. So I could not stand waiting any longer and went with the pin idea. Works great and very easy to do. Just took a 5/16 masonry bit and drilled straight down. Then gently turned it sideways to slot it (it was going to bust out anyway, might as well make it look more controlled). Anyway, here are the pics. Holds in place great! Won't even notice it after a couple of grilling sessions either! -=Jasen=-
