  1. Re: greetings from mississippi Well, I got a v8 in my truck, but don't see too many v4 around, except in motorcycles or vintage cars. Welcome to the forum! -=Jasen=-
  2. Re: It's already being built.. It's already being built.. It will have four legs but be curved for the 23" OTB to stand next to it. It will also have a plate so it can be bolted to the cooker. I'll have two sizes.. so you can have one size larger than the other or both the same size.. or just use one.. Nice!!
  3. Very freakn sweet Dennis. Now a couple of free standing cabinets for the larger model so I would not have to lift it.....would be even mo sweeter! -=Jasen=-
  4. Hey Gerard, are the guys who found bigfoot's body some of your buddies? Claims they found this body in northern Georgia. Being a vet, what do you think? Ever get a sasquatch in your practice? hehe Supposed to be a press conference tomorrow. http://www.searchingforbigfoot.com/HomePage -=Jasen=-
  5. Ok, swapped up the title and hope that clears things a bit. Just a quick summary: If you have a Stoker and a Guru, you may want to purchase the longer bulkhead inducer, which does not require silicone. If you only plan to use the Guru, the 1.5" inducer maybe your choice. It fits flush with the port on your grill, but you need to silicone it in place. -=Jasen=-
  6. Wow, sorry I missed one...it happens. But I think I have it fixed now. Seriously, nobody needs to take this post splitting/moving so serious. I am simply trying to keep things more organized. This was a very good thread and it was a very good question. No wrong doing here, no forum slaps on the hand, just simply trying to put information where it would be better suited. FYI, no offense taken, no apology necessary...just forum business. -=Jasen=-
  7. While all good info, best to be in a separate question thread and area. After all, that was an announcement showing off pics of his totally stoned new grill. -=Jasen=-
  8. Ok, decided this thread needed a fresh start. The original Guru inducer tube post was an information thread and mainly about the new Guru part number for the 1.5" inducer tube. -=Jasen=-
  9. I am not sure if time is also the factor in this formation. It usually takes about 2 hrs. I have heard of people using a box fan. -=Jasen=-
  10. Just a thin, shiny membrane that forms if you air dry the fish before smoking. It holds in the fats, makes the fish more moist and keep that white goo from forming on the outside of the fish. -=Jasen=-
  11. Time of year (or rather outside temps) will play a major role in how you plan to cold smoke. Around here, you really would not need much of a heat source (maybe Jan/Feb) as the smoke from the box will provide a little. Now that is for cold smoke (<100). You don't really need anything (well, the Guru really helps) to smoke as low as 150. -=Jasen=-
  12. Haven't heard anyone mention allowing the fish to dry and pellicle to forum before smoking. Is that something most of you omit? I like the texture of smoked fish better by including this step. BTW, nice looking fish! -=Jasen=-
  13. Guru + External Smoke Box Here are some pics of one I made up a while back. Just never had to time or room to get into curing/cold smoking....yet....on the to do list. Ignore the ugly welds, really thin SS is a lot of fun to weld. I think the next version will be a separate box and attached with a foil hose. Might have found a reason to break out the old Smokey Joe grill...hehe. -=Jasen=-
  14. Are you using the 1.5" long inducer tube? I guess you could leave it attached to the Guru, though I do not think you would get too snug of a fit. But hey, whatever works for you. -=Jasen=-
  15. Ok, been working for a little while to get Guru folks to sell a Guru inducer tube specifically for the KK. Their web site ordering is currently down for issues, but when it returns the KK inducer tube will be on it. Also, you can order the part by phone: 1 800 288 4878 ext 241. It is part # 800-1001-014 I should mention, this inducer tube is for silicone mounting. It is very simple to use a bit of silicone to mount it in place. This is also a flush mount...you will not have extra tube sticking out in front of the Guru port. If you still prefer not using silicone, you can always purchase the longer bulkhead inducer port which will stick out in front of the Guru port plate. -=Jasen=- Edit...based on information from PaulR: If you are thinking of getting a Stoker, might want to get the non-silicone bulkhead adapter since you will have to swap tubes if you have a Guru and a Stoker. Thanks Paul.
  16. It was buried in the photo section. I have since placed a link to it in the technique section. Thanks! -=Jasen=-

    Brisket

This link it to a post in the pic section, but thought it should be in the technique section too. viewtopic.php?t=1667 -=Jasen=-
  18. Very nice looking Naldo. Was your down time in a cooler at cold temps or just wrapped in foil and placed in an insulated container? Reason I ask is cold temp is one of my techniques I currently use. Quickly gets the already done brisket down to lower temps so the juices don't flow out. http://www.komodokamado.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1667 -=Jasen=-
  19. Can anyone explain how that happens? Just seems odd to me, why/how the fire goes out when the draft is full open. Is it because heat/smoke goes up not down, so can't get out, thus causing air blockage so to speak. Oxygen displacement. Since the smoke cannot escape, it smoothers the fire by displacing oxygen. A fire need heat, fuel and oxygen to happen. Take out any of the three and you got no fire. -=Jasen=-
  20. JB, I tried to delete the post you requested, but now the thread makes no sense. Just for information, you can deleted your own post until someone has quoted it ("X" button to the right of your post). And even then, you can just edit and delete all the info within. As I obviously must have misunderstood your request. Also moved the topic as it had nothing to do with using oil on your grill. -=Jasen=-
  21. Here is a thread and link about cooking for large groups. viewtopic.php?t=448 -=Jasen=-
  22. Re: Grout Sealing Suggestion Apply the sealer then wipe off the excess grout sealer with a damp sponge before it dries and you should not have that haze problem. -=Jasen=-
  23. I can only post this because I too live in the aforementioned state: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080808091149AA3VGTk It just says question is deleted when I click on the link? Must be a loss in translation. -=Jasen=-
