New KK order - any must have accessories?

hello all - I am on the verge of pulling the trigger on an order for a 23" - Dennis has of course been enormously helpful and encouraging. Question for all you old hands: my accessory list is the 6" rotisserie, a cover, and the charcoal basket splitter. Any other must haves in your opinions?

Ed, welcome. I would suggest that you get the 8 inch rotisserie with the 6 inch reducer, the baking stone is certainly helpful for doing pizza and breads.

The coco char is incredible. You can get it shipped with your grill with almost no additional shipping charges.

The CoffeeChar lump is really good lump. I wish I would have ordered a whole bunch when I had the chance.

I don't like Cocochar. Yes it has no flavor profile but once heated to a certain point it gets really brittle and will disintegrate into powder if you look at it sideways (okay exaggerated a little). If you had two lump baskets, one for only Cocochar it would be manageable but I only have one lump basket so I rarely use it. I have a few boxes in the shed that will probably be there for the next 10 years unless I give them away. Sorry Cocochar fans .......... It is what it is ....

I'll agree with@churchi double bottom drip pan all the way. I use mine as a deflector/drip pan way more than the standard deflector and separate drip pan.

I agree with getting the 8” rotisserie basket with the reducer instead of the 6” basket. If you’re getting the splitter, get an extra charcoal basket as well. 

One other accessory would be the side tables, if you don’t have any handy space to put things on.

I use mine mainly as a diffuser and to catch grease so it doesn't go down into the KK.

Nah we're just playing - we are definitely not getting another KK. Two is more than sufficient for our 3 person family.

Right now Mrs skreef is frantically trying to get me to fill up the garden space so I don't get the idea to pull the trigger on a Fornetto wood fired oven. Oh wait I already have that idea running around in my head. I just think "she needs" a dedicated wood fired oven - LOL

I'm still a noob, but I got:

• 6" rotisserie - I figured it was big enough for anything I'd ever do. That said, the 8" might be a better way to go. Haven't had a chance to use this yet.
• Stainless top side tables - love these. So easy to keep clean and I don't have to worry about setting hot things on them. They do get super hot in the sun, though.
• Ultimate Baking Stone - got this mostly as a pizza stone. I also anticipate baking breads o this. You could, however, use the deflector as a pizza stone
• Basket splitter - haven't had a chance to use this yet. I didn't get a second basket, but it would make this thing more usable.
• Cover - don't have mine yet so I can't speak from personal experience, but I'm a cover kind of guy, so this was a must for me

So basically, I got just about everything except the drip pan. It seemed like they would be a pain to clean, so I just use the aluminum foil pans. If it's just a grease catcher, I line those with some foil so I can re-use the pan.

Get the Fornetto wood oven or something similar, you will never regret it. The wood oven will save the KK from the wear and tear of the high heat cooks.

I love my wood oven and would buy another one in a heart beat if something happened to this one.

I love to bake on the kk.. So if you do, got to get a baking stone.
