marco polo
Tried to find the info, could not. Please forgive me if I should have found that out on my own. Don't want the backlash DJ gave Curly for not googling...

Curly
Re: Does the KK come with temp gauge? ...Don't want the backlash DJ gave Curly for not googling... Yeah, since he's become addicted to the pain meds he's been pretty hard to live with
ThreeDJ16
Re: Does the KK come with temp gauge? Don't want the backlash DJ gave Curly for not googling... I did it simply cause I can. That and it was Curly! -=Jasen=- Oh yeah, and it is a nice Tru-tel thermometer. There is a link in our link section to their website. PaulR
Don't you get a choice of temps? one with a range between 200 -750 and the other one up to 1000? I probably got the ranges all wrong and will try to find the post... Found it: viewtopic.php?t=
tcoliver
Right now I only have the 750 degree ones. Maybe Dennis has the other ones.
LeadDog
I asked Dennis for the one that goes to 1,000 and he said that he isn't shipping them anymore. He said something like "I did this to discourage people from using insanely extreme high temperatures".
marco polo
Gauge temps wrap around? You can use the 750 gauge beyond, the tems up to 1200+ should not effect it. Just gots to do a little math. I hope performing such stunts should be prefaced by some disclaimer??

Just gots to do a little math. I hope performing such stunts should be prefaced by some disclaimer?? [/quote'] Generally speaking you should not use a gauge beyond it limits (unless it was designed to do so). I have seen a few scales that were designed to wrap a certain amount of times (to improve accuracy and keep the dial smaller). When you exceed the limit of a fixed range, you damage the zero and span calibrations of the instrument. Sure you might can get away with it a few times, but more than not you will eventually destroy the calibration (and the gauge). Take it from someone who has seen plenty of gauges get wrapped - hehe. Just for info, it is not the best idea to crank the grill beyond 750 (build a forge like I did if you need that). Most people find that food is better cooked than burned to a crisp - hehe. For someone who really likes the T-Rex steak cooking method (I can go for that too), there is an optional upper grill (that reverses and becomes a sear grill too). That way it can be placed directly on the charcoal holder and hit those really high temps quickly without letting the entire grill heat up. -=Jasen=-
Porkchop
man that's bad news. i've wrapped my temp gauge several times now i'm gonna have to re-calibrate i guess. i tend to do my steaks around 650-700, and sometimes the temp gets away from me a little. awesome steaks tho! TheNakedWhiz
FWIW, the 1000 degree TelTru thermometer should only be used above 800 degrees for limited periods of time. TelTru doesn't say what "limited" means, but you get the idea....
Sanny
... TelTru doesn't say what "limited" means' date=' but you get the idea....[/quote']Prolly just long enough to say "oh poop! Temp's too high!" and lower the temp.
