Czeqm8 Posted August 16, 2018 Report Posted August 16, 2018 I am considering getting a KK. I am concerned how it will handle a Chicago winter. Every terra-cotta pot I have ever owned and forget outside in the winter will fracture do to the freeze thaw cycle. Will the KK survive? What special things do I need to do to accomplish a life long KK in a climate like this? Quote
tquando Posted August 16, 2018 Report Posted August 16, 2018 Nothing no to worry about! I am a cold weather guy and have one in the mountains of Japan and one in Jackson Hole. No problems handling the coldest of cold or grilling way below zero. Just buy a cover and no worries. 2 Quote
Jon B. Posted August 16, 2018 Report Posted August 16, 2018 A decent cover will do the trick. We get an average of 12 feet of snow per year and my cover has kept the cooker nice and dry. I do try to cover the cooker while it is still a little warm. 2 Quote

Dennis makes the best covers for the KK’s easy to put on and take off. I have my KK and cabinet under a lanai cover but still cover them when not in use. 1 Quote
