  1. Looks like a great beach. Love living on the water. Had my niece and other kids over tonight so did a solid wing cook. Not lying, best wings I ever grilled. Top grate this time direct at about 325. Man, had lil crisp and moist! The KK makes me a much better cook than I really am. Needless to say, no left overs tonight.

  2. Thought about ju Black beauty! It took my wife and I about 2.5 hours to uncrate it, move it into the house, build a makeshift ramp over the sliding door channel and move it down to the lanai. Still figuring out the right home. I have to say that I thought black would work well with the cage and furniture outside, but I was a bit concerned I might not like the pebble finish. I don't. I love it! And so does my wife. With the heat index it was 105 in SW FL today, so by the time we finished I was too exhausted to set it up for the first cook. Something to look forward to for tomorrow.

  5. I haven't forgotten, sometime you put things on the shelf but, eventually they come down. This piece I cut in half, using a 4.5 in grinder with a diamond blade, unfortunately,.... the piece was 2 inches thick and having to keep the guard on I couldn't cut thoroughly through. In the end the piece separated using an oscillating tool and a number of bits being used. Looks like two massive Konros up for design and and a lot of grinding to smooth. Just the beginning, a delicate procedure going forth and unsure of the outcome but anticipate two unusual grills.

  6. My wife and I just moved to Florida from NJ, leaving behind a BB32. I loved the grill and made some really delicious foods on it, including a suckling pig, but I must admit that I never really mastered the art of low and slow. I’m hoping to correct that. Just ordered a 23 Ultimate in black pebble and I can’t wait for it to get here. I ended up with the 23 instead of the 32 because it fits into my general push towards downsizing, and also because I never really needed all the grill space (other than the pig). Hoping I didn’t choose wrong. Here is a picture of my former blue beast (smoking in the background) and the pig. Have to say that I love this forum - you folks are awesome!

  7. I happened upon this industrial crucible approx 3 years ago and found a place for it along side a shed, it was tightly covered it to the weather and was unwrapped today. When I placed it there it was in perfect shape and coincidently it had never been used. The moisture extracted some of the iron along it's surface and it weeped out, no biggee. I was thinking of a Konro, already has a place to rest tools. Dimensions are HT 22" O.D. 16" I.D. 12.25" wall thickness 1and7/8" WT. incredibly heavy. It does have possibilities and potential. It's time to put it on the shop table and maybe you may have an idea. Please, no space shuttles or tea pot ideas. Thanks

  8. Interesting feedback @Basher, ta. I must say that from some of the pictures I've seen, it does look like it's of a decent build standard and finish. Assume the finish is powder coat - it has a texture to it which suggests that - is that right? I was thinking that I might get one as a beach BBQ and liked the fact that it could double up as an indoor konro. Why I had a chat with @tekobo about traditional versus contemporary modernist equivalent. I'm inclined to take the view of any KK owner on this forum as informed and discriminating if you've got the good taste to buy a KK so might look one out. BGE and Kamado Joe are primitive and agricultural in comparison to a KK. The lid mechanism is terrible and the finish. Just no. I was deeply unimpressed by them when I was buying my first KK and little has changed to convince me otherwise.

  9. Naaaa. It's been great. I has reminded me how different everyone's circumstances are and how I need to trust my instincts about what will work best for me. One day I may end up with @alimac23's two 32 dream team but not in this garden. As it stands, my 23 is not sold yet so the end game could be a new 32 and my existing 23. Which would seem eminently sensible but I am not always sensible.

  10. Pork chops with mushroom gravy today for lunch. tonyb, you posted pics recently with mushroom gravy, had me drooling, I could not go any longer with out making some myself, it was delicious. Thanks. This pork is a FFA project that was put on hold when the Houston livestock show was canceled due to the Covid. My friends grandson agreed to sell us half the hog. Very tasty.

  13. You could make a water feature out of it. Use it as the centerpiece w/ water running out of the spout
