  5. Re: First Guru Cook (Pork Loin) That looks like my Cabela's Cajun Injector. Interesting to hear it referred to as meat pump. I'm glad you posted the picture; reading your post I was actually wondering what a meat pump was.
  6. Re: New owner of KK in Mendocino County, Ca Congratulations!! Welcome to the club. Let us know how the ribs turned out. Pictures are good too, or you could be accused of it not really happening.... hehehe
  7. Re: Beef Short Ribs vs Beef ribs I think you're charting new territory with this one. I went through the same thing with country style pork ribs. You'll have to post results and how you did it. I'm excited to hear.
  8. Re: Leg of lamb cooked in hay I wish they would have included a photo of it finished. If someone tries it I'd sure like to hear about it. Personally, I'm a little hesitant on this one. I do like the smell of wet hay, and even the taste as I'm known to chew on a piece once in awhile; just not sure I want a mouthfull of it.
  9. Re: Waiting on my Cobalt Blue I still can't get over how much I like the cobalt blue with the SS trimings. Beautiful cooker!!
  10. Re: Finally ! Cute picture. I can see it now. "KK doubles as a storm capsule for kid"

  17. Re: Everyday Misc Cooking Photos w/ details I'll second the baked potato!! Can't hardly beat a baked potato that's been wildy punctured with a fork, coated in EVOO, sprinkled with sea salt and fresh ground black pepper, and grilled naked at 350 F. on the KK!! Yummy!
  18. Re: Kamado Smoked Chili Very cool Bret! Great job!! Loved how the can opener looked like it was going around the can all by itself; handle turning and all!
  19. Re: Order placed and now the waiting starts..... Ditto the neat tile design!! Love it! Two thumbs up!
  20. Re: Guru /Thermapen question Thanks Doc!! Ordering one now.
  21. Re: Guru /Thermapen question Do you use your thermapen to check your steaks for doneness? If so, is it one of those foldable fast read thermapens? I haven't purchased one yet, partially because I can't decide on color!! Also not sure I need such a high tech pen as I don't use it often. But I need something as my pocket thermapen battery door has failed. I'm thinking if folding model is good for determining steak doneness that might be the deciding factor. hehe Anyway, I give up on feel for doneness on steak; I just haven't been able to master it. In fact I've pretty much given up on steak for guests just because it's so hard on me emotionally to not get guests steaks done perfect. I know the experts say not to poke steak but, if the pen works hell with it.
  22. Re: Questions about the 19.5 inch Komodo Kamado Ha! Rolling on the floor laughing my a$$ off!!
  23. Re: Thermapen on sale I contacted Thermapen; they no longer print the chart on any of their thermometers (pocket or folding). The folding model does however come with a book that has the chart. Doc, you're funny "After a very short while you will memorize these temps". I just find that funnnier than hell! I've been reading that chart for years.... hehe
  24. Re: Thermapen on sale I need a Thermapen. This weekend went to grab my old thermapen to find the battery compartment partially open. One of the two plastic door tabs that holds door closed had broken off. Must be an age thing, plastic fatigue, I've had this stick style Thermapen with sheath for what seems like forever. So today I pretty much decided on ordering one of those New (well not so new anymore) fast reading Thermoworks Foldable Colored Splash Proof Thermapens that retail for $89. So while on-line preparing to order I called my Wife to see if she had a color preference. I went on to explain features, fast read, foldable, no sheath to misplace, auto on/off, bla, bla. Justifying the $89 eehhh.... I couldn't believe what she said!! She wants a sheath!! I asked why; she replied because it has the meat doneness chart printed on it!! Pork, beef, poultry, etc. I hadn't thought about that, but I use it too!! Can someone tell me if there's a meat doneness chart printed on the backside of the foldable Thermoworks Thermapen? And if anyone knows of any sales going on? Thanks, John
  25. Re: Total Cooking Surface Area? Very clever idea, Doc!! That's a good one.
