Something tells me if you threw some of those on the grill someone started phoning for reservations real quick! Maybe you took some to gramps B-Day party.

And she will be hot and sexy! Thanks Sanny....I was trying to think of the perfect name....The name of the house (named long before it came into my hands) is Sea Gate. So Sybil will live at Sea Gate. the saratoga did not look anything like a ribeye, it looked like a tenderloin or filet mignon, just slightly larger in circumference. Taste, texture, shape, marbling seemed pretty comparable to tenderloin also. I have never seen a delmonico.

I certainly concur on the flat iron steak. My first was about 3 years ago in a local restaurant served with black truffle risotto. One of my all time favorite restaurant meals. The steak was grilled to perfection and served thinly sliced in a pinwheel pattern around the risotto. What can you tell me about a saratoga steak? I have purchased from a local butcher shop and they are featured alongside the filet at about half the price. Visually they look slightly larger on average, but I cannot differentiate other differences. They grill up exceptionally well also.

Greggd....think of it like an investment....its not worth what you paid for it, and its better to recoup half the investment before it becomes completely worthless.....You're saving money. Here is a little female insight from a friend of mine: When she bought a really expensive pair of shoes that were 'on sale' she went home and told her husband how much money she had saved. Its all in the presentation.... Besides, every time you cook with your K7 I bet you get agitated about how they treated you on the koal order. Better to change up and get a more relaxed and happy feeling when your are cooking. Bad karma is not food safe

I would have preferred a teak cabinet also, I inquired about a year ago with Dennis and he has the interest, but maybe not the time and help. This is a mexi-cabinet, but not from the mexi-K people There is a local business (I'm sure there are many similar business across the states) that imports from a variety of the Mexican furniture people that reclaim very old wood to make thier furniture with. They do a lot of copper work in Mexico They had a number of beautiful tables with hammered copper tops such as the one in this link: http://www.yourvirtualeye.com/luna_rust ... 110016.gif. It was available on some cabinets as well and I am debating whether to order tops for these cabs. I have concerns about the sanitation issues of the wood tops in an exterior setting, especially where birds (and big ones) are plenty! Maybe after they see some chicken cooking on the KK they will disappear I like this emoticon

Yeah new delivery is Monday between 12 & 5, then I will have to leave back out of town again....I would have been ok with a Monday delivery if they hadn't gotten me all slathered for a delivery today. I got the taupe color for my cover and I'm quite pleased about the way it coordinates into the courtyard area. Johnnyboy was very attentive and conscientious. Excellent transaction.

Sanny....tiles were DalTile (they have three slate color ranges) commonly found in many tile stores. Just before I pulled the trigger, I did see another slate in another supply house that was more rustic appearing with more orange/copper and blue tones, but I preferred a mostly green/grey effect. The alternate was also about $3.50 sq. ft. less than the DalTile. The process is not exactly simple. I ordered the tile in, packaged the 6 boxes together (this was to avoid loss as it comes 5 sheets per box), and air shipped through a broker who subbed the shipping through DHL. DHL came to my home and picked up the very heavy package and it was off. There has to be an invoice that accompanies the shipment. DHL cleared it through customs in Malaysia and delivered to Dennis' warehouse. I have to admit I doubted how it would ever get to Dennis because his address format seems odd to me, but it got there in about 5 days. There was some tile breakage, but I do not know if that occured in the shipment to me or in the shipment to Dennis. I had included 3 extra square feet and I think there was barely enough tile. It was complicated, but Dennis could not find a mosaic slate source in Malaysia.

Thanks Sanny and Curly.....As a matter of fact I just received the call a few minutes ago and they are delivering the slate beauty this afternoon. I received a beautiful Johnnyboy cover yesterday. I'm going to be stylin it. I gotta get camera batteries charged. Now I have to drive over early to receive it.. Man I better get busy.

Did you see on tv how they force feed the ducks (it might have been geese) to fatten up the livers and how several cities are banning the product because of this practice? They would take the birds and force a small pipe into their mouths and inject (actually blow in) massive food into them to fatten them up quickly. It was revolting to watch.

Dennis, This is a very common cut in Calif, and commonly featured at large BBQ events. The cut is less common and fairly expensive on the east coast. It used to be a fairly inexpensive cut before it became so popular. If you have ever heard of Santa Maria BBQ, that is the cut of meat they are referring to. If you get a chance while you are here try a Saratoga steak and a flat iron steak, both very comparable to filet mingon and usually more affordable.

Looks like you will be landing in Calif before my BBQ does. Did you bring plenty of candles? You might need to get a burn permit for that many candles.. ..You might have enough flame to sear some steaks with! Did you bring him some of your special BBQ'd bugs? I'll bet that little princess of yours steals his heart.

I tried their turducken once and I was very underwhelmed....I felt it was all marketing hype....but then I am not much of a turkey fan. Their shipping was quick, and the product arrives still frozen (of course that was near Christmas.

Perhaps we are getting some visitors/migration from the K forum....The more the merrier. Their forum is becoming a customer service nightmare. There is a lot of cooking experience they can bring to this forum.

RJ wouldn't clear out the women and children......they fight the battles...and start a few also.

I emailed Dennis on 6/11 and suggested he ship my thermometer out since my BBQ is due into LA on July 1. I was very surprised that it arrived 6/14 (possibly the day before) in a expedited UPS box. Dennis...that was such a great rush job on the thermometer (certainly not expected, but thanks to you and TC)....can you pull that off on the BBQ? Maybe tell that ship to speed up a little? And don't forget to tell those union port guys to pick up the pace a little too!
