Hi ChefJeff.....have you selected a KK yet? Dennis indicated after the first quake they were ok. Don't know about the others... Lets hope there wasn't a ship in the way of the tsunami..
-
I emailed Dennis yesterday and he said they were fine...

I like the terra cotta beauty...The color critics are coming

It is my understanding that the textured coating is getting an improvement also.

Porkchop has a black textured....the manly man's BBQ.

Welcome Dub...more fun than the other forum for sure. We got food porn here

I Think the purdy thang got him all distracted.

Grilled peaches Since I didn't picture the steaks (everybody too eager to eat), I took pictures of part of the desert. I grilled some peaches to put over the homemade ice cream. Very good if I say so myself....and so did the guests....my little niece got up the next morning asking for more ice cream for breakfast....she and her dad decided they did not need to ask mom's permission!

Dennis...as I have said before.....by virtue of Richard copying you he is admitting your improvements have exceeded his. Even if he copied you exactly, he will never be able to really compete as long as he and the family are running things. Add to the fact that he has Topo and there is an impending time bomb of a double cross coming. After nearly 10 years ( and 4 production facilities) he has been making tiled ceramic BBQs he has never been able to get to the point where he could sell from stock. Every time he has relocated he has left behind significant debt or burned his investors. The current association with Topo will explode....the question (and bets?) is when. If he has not already done so, Topo may start skimming money off of supplies and substituting cheaper product, and then there would be continuing quality issues since there is no one supervising Topo.

Sanny wrote: This reminds me of one of my favorite sayings though I do not know the origination: "Friends are the family we pick ouselves". This may not be accurate, but its close. I concur, the negative sentiments expressed are towards the Johnsons and the poor service and lies as well as their forum cheerleaders who attack anyone who dares to mention on the forum they have a problem when the Johnsons ignore them. Given the mexi-forum is declining into a customer service grievance forum, I think we should be more welcoming to those who want to join us and share recipes and techniques. That will make this forum stronger.

Firemonkey wrote: Lazzari also makes an oak lump but in some areas it is not available. I emailed them and their rep told me that the store brand for Barbeques Galore was their oak lump. I understand it is more for restaurant supply, but your local distributor may be able to get it for you. I have not used it and do not know how good it is. I do know that their mesquite is usually good size pieces and reasonably priced.

Welcome Saucier...when you email Dennis he is 10-12 hours different than we are. I believe he has some in stock in LA so if you like something there it won't be much of a wait. If the budget permits, the upgrade from BGE to KK is worth it. The BGE will get you there, the KK will do it in style and ease.

I guess if you have to order and wait forever to get a ceramic BBQ you have time to get all the projects done first. But when they ship these things right out to you when you say you want it then you get caught without lump and a place to put it.

Porkchop....my brother-in-law is using a weber grill in the bottom of his K7 for a lump bed. It brings the fire a little closer to the main grill, but that is ok.

You can start singing about how you used to have the cement cooker blues. ...

Komodo Coconut Charcoal... Both cat's are out...

Rockdawg stated that although it was not as good as the previous lump and it probably had greater ash he still thought it better than most readily available lumps. Of course that opinion did not factor in the cost of his lump compared to the cost of readily available lump. Interesting that only one recipient of this lump has posted on the kamado forum regarding the quality and comparison issues since this has been brought into focus by TNW. I certainly do not doubt tkline or TNW. -
LeadDog appears LeadDog has surfaced on the fraud forum. Hopefully he will surface here soon as well.

I don't think the comparison really can be applied to the food itself, I think the ceramics as a group can be compared on features, size, ease of use, style/looks, price, and the all important product reliability/customer service. Beyond that it becomes an issue of cooking techniques, expertise, recipes and ingredients.

That is a long mission for an employed man! Maybe the aliens came out of the yella KK and grabbed him. Maybe he got mad at Curly for picking on him for the color of his KK. He was really getting into the breads and then he disappeared. There is a lot of wild boar around the area he lives....maybe
