Sad day for the Kamado Joe Classic
ckreef replied to Aussie Ora's topic in Jokes, Ribbin' & Misc Banter!
Well reading the title I thought it had cracked and fell apart. Glad you are going to get some return and somebody is getting a decent kamado. Good call on keeping the Jr. Even if you only use it every once in a while it's really nice having two kamados. -
I agree every time I've sent Aussie a package it was right around $50 USD regardless of the weight. Every time he's sent me something it was around $65 AUD which amounts to about $50 USD once the exchange rate is figure in. It is what it is but worth every penny for the exotic Australian flavors especially Summer Breeze.

Desert limes, pepperleaf and honey. A mildly sweet lime sauce. Perfect for dipping coconut shrimp in. Sorry no pictures - entire dinner was a failure except for the coconut shrimp - they were the best I've done to date. Going to try it with lime marinated steak fajitas one day soon. You can order this from the Outback Pride website but will cost you a good bit shipping from Australia. @Aussie Ora the entire family thought this was the best sauce you've sent us.

I totally understand this. It's a nice looking gaser set up with ceramic qualities.

Great looking pizza. I love Chicago style deep dish pizzas although I make them Reef style.
-
Late to this party but great looking ribs.

This is so cool Dennis can you make me a miniature KK

I watched all the videos in that link, totally kewl. The coconut shrimp looked really good. -
I totally agree with that. Somebody is going to have to totally kiss my as$ for me to buy SRF Wagyu. Prime American Black Angus is going to be close. None of your guests will notice the difference and I bet you could save some money.

Mac n cheese looks good. I've been winging it a lot lately. Sort of fun seeing what you can come up with letting your mind wander a bit.

Looks delicious.

Sometimes fake news is better than real news. Great looking nachos.

If the dates work for you we could do that. I'm sure we could get a few Guru members to meet up.

Hello
-
Sounds like a tasty recipe but what is higher-welfare pork sausage?
-
Nice - in that picture, when I zoom in really tight, I think I see some strange bloke with BBQ sauce dripping off his chin - LOL Mrs skreef seems to have a talent for spotting ISS fly by's. Even spotted it last summer when my sister and brother in law where visiting. They had never seen a fly by so thought it was really kewl.

Interesting read. Of course where I live it's a matter of which of the 20+ varieties of grits do you want to buy.
-
Grilled sriracha shrimp and asiago cheese grits in a creole tomato sauce. Served with corn bread muffin tops. This was a collaborative cook from me and Mrs skreef. The best tasting shrimp and grits to date but.......... It really needed monster shrimp and there was a lot of technical flaws in the presentation to have a really killer money shot. There is always next time.

Yes that looks correct and complete, I have one out in the back shed. In theory the heated pipe is supposed to transfer enough heat to the tank to keep the pressure up and the gas flowing. That way you don't have to constantly pump the valve while cooking. It also helps to assure the liquid gas has fully vaporized before going to the burners. Most of those can only use white gas. I own a single burner one that can also run off of car gas. Took it on my motorcycle when I toured the country for 3 months back when I was young and care free. Just siphoned a little out of the motorcycle tank when I wanted to cook something. -
I understand what you are saying about that but then I look at the plate as a whole and figure what I would spend at a decent steak restaurant. The cost then doesn't seem so high and you're eating a better meal.

Congratulations on the KK purchase. I'm not a home brewer but that setup looks impressive.
-
Those look delicious. Cooked perfectly. First steaks since getting a kamado - wow - you've owned a kamado for a bit of time now. Bet you won't wait that long for the next ones.
-
@MacKenzie delicious looking fish dinner. I believe you've become a fish convert. I remember the day, not too long ago, when you said you really didn't like fish - now look at you.

It's individual magnets epoxied behind the black felt and wood. I though about just hiding a magnetic bar but once you cover a store bought bar the bar magnets don't work so good.
