  1. Please post your prep and cook details with the pics. Never had beef cheek..
  2. I use a simple electric element to light with. I have tried the gas option and the coal chminey. The electric has no smoke and it lights in no time. Set it and forget it until you see the little smoke from the coals. Not sure I'll be using anything else. Anyone wanna buy a slightly used gas option?
  3. Thanks John, much appreciated. It will roll out the gate, but the lab will be home, not to worry I am sure he'll let you by after a few hours of playing. Excellent news on the cover, thx!
  4. As TC said "got screwed by Kamado" I found the fraud forum, then found my way here. nuf said.
  5. Thanks for the compliments guys.. Regarding building more for sale, I am not in a position to do anything like that. As for Post build ideas... at the top of the list, I would source an exotic wood (Mahogany, Teak, etc) to do the skin and top (no Granite - too bloody heavy!). The Birch ply was hard to get the color done well. I was not dissapointed by any of the other design elements.
  6. Mmmm, Mmmm, good.. lookin! That looks like a real tasty meal. great work!
  7. Oh Man.. I wish I wasn't already cookin a turkey today! I would do this lickety split. I have this in my recipie list for the next pork dinner we have. thanks for sharing.

    Rib Placement

Rib Placement I have not used the horozontal racks for ribs, I have only used the southern steamers rib rack, which may fit your K. Give thier site a look-see to check dimensions.
  9. Completed Cart - FINALLY!! After many months of working a little at a time and in between last minute business trips to various continents and recovering from water damage to the house, I was able to carve out time to finish up my KK Kart project. The intention was to put a counter adjacent to the KK adn organized all the pieces for it (and get it all out of my workshop!). I intended to put a slatted top on it to match our teak patio furniture, but the in-laws had a mishap with the install of thier granite counters and I was given a piece of granite I incorporated into the top. Frame is pine 1.5"x2", panels are smooth birch plywood 1/2", top frame is 2"x6" Cedara with a lip cut into it to accept the granite. Finish is satin poly on everything except Cedar top, I use Watco oil on it. Everything got 4 coats. Casters are al l4 swivel, front two lock. Johnny is in process of making a cover to match KK and Bar with a handle sewn into a seam so I can hang it on the other side of the shepards hook. For a first shot and doing it all from my head (no plans or drawings), my wife and I are very pleased and I no longer have to use the outside table to stage everything.
  10. Dry or Wet? I have always used dry rub on ribs. I put sauce (warmed) on the side for those folks that like some on thier ribs, but haave found that dry rubs impart great flavor and with the KK they are not dried out at all, very juicy. If you have not tried dry rubs, give 'em a shot on one of those three emats, you're goin' luv it!
  11. Order Share I am in for 7 boxes. I may be able to be flexible during the week to meet you in Orlando and unload if needs be, but weekend is best. Just let me know - send me an email (address in my profile).
  12. Jax - Travel Don - if this goes down we can drive one vehicle down. I am basically in Jax (near Julington Creek). You drive south to me, we can go to Orlando in one truck.
  13. No, not 'date myself', I just have an extraordinary command of history.
  14. Cool. Let me know how we need to handle the $$. I can drive to Orlando to pickup.
  15. Orlando Charcoal share I would be interested in several boxes, say half-dozen. Does that help?
  16. Organization How about horizontal, adjustable, removable shelves? I post a few pics of a cabinet that is in progress still (losta of other priorities popped up). Pics are in the General section under Outdoor Cabinets/Carts. I chose this method so that I can re-arrange the shelves if needed, take them out for cleaning, etc... For each bracket that holds the shelf, I routed the bottom of the shelf so it would sit down on the bracket and not move. I considered sliders, but thought the bracket would be easier, but left room in the design to add sliders later if I wanted.
  17. Oven...... We haven't used the oven for anything but baking a cake or two, and biscuits. Everything else goes on the KK.

    Lamb Rack

It's been a while since we cooked out, been busy recovering from a water leak when we were in Brisbane at the beginning of June, more to go, but needed a break! We did two small racks of lamb tonight using David Synder's 'Wet rub with Rosemary' and his 'Roasted Rackof Lamb' recipe. Juicy and delicious!
  20. Stone Shape Very nice!! I think Marvin would like to get a stoned partner.
  21. Outstanding - Thanks Dennis cheers
  22. Spring fix for EZ-Que I did not get a shaft with the spring on it with my Q kit. Are they still available?
  23. EZ-Que CJ - the EZ-Que is a great move, I purchased the kit with both size rotis baskets and the AC powered 50# motor. Have done two 7-8# chicken simultaneously, did a gyro loaf, a turkey and look forward to doing more on it. Have to let you know though, the shaft between the motor and the rotis slips out of the hole in the side of the KK so a collar or rubber band fix needs to be applied. There is a post on this forum dealing with the matter, i have used the rubber band because i keep forgetting to buy a collar when I am at the hardware store. CONGRATS on your pending jubilation, enjoy.....
