  1. I vote for 40". I am 5' 8", I built my BBQ Wet Bar to a counter height of 40", and the platform for the legless 19" KK was built to have the lip at counter height. Been using it regularly for some years now and the ergonomics are perfect. In addition on the 19", when the lip is at 40" the actual cooking surface is at 38".
  2. I chose to install the Fire Magic Power Burner for my outdoor kitchen instead of the Lynx Dual burners even though I installed a Lynx Grill and the KK. It's been the perfect choice for me. Fire Magic 19S0B1N0 - 19" Built-in Power Burner with 60,000 BTU, Cast Brass Burner, Stainless Steel Grid and Electronic Ignition: Natural Gas
  3. I have had a Bradley Smoker for the last 12 years which I primarily use for smoking fish. My personal opinion is, the Bradley has pretty poor build quality, it is quite flimsy. If I was buying now I would go with something like the Masterbuilt electric smoker with window sold at SamsClub for $300 or the Smoky Mountain smoker (online only) for the same price.
  4. For those who are Costco members, you may be interested in this seasonal item that is now in the warehouse. I bought one two years ago as an accessory to my outdoor kitchen and it has held up very well sitting outdoors uncovered. It provides additional food prep counter space when needed, and is easy to clean. In my book, it is a winner for the price of $124.99.
  5. Re: Another argument for using grill-floss Love using my grill floss to get the crud off. But I must confess, that screeching noise it makes does grate on my nerves a bit every time I use it.
  6. Re: Goat: Cabrito Do you remove the skin?
  7. Re: Los Angeles area pallet share Increasing my take to 14 boxes, LATrapp's got 8. Any takers in the area for the remaining 6 boxes?
  8. Re: Los Angeles area pallet share Notwithstanding our ability to pick up from Carson, I thought it would perhaps work out better for Dennis if he knew that one whole pallet was spoken for, and designated for the L.A. area upon shipment from Indonesia.
  9. Re: Los Angeles area pallet share Duly noted. Any takers for the remaining 10 boxes?
  10. Now that Dennis is shipping ECC again, I would like to organize a pallet share for the Los Angeles area. I am in for 10 boxes, out of the 28 in a pallet. Any takers for the remaining 18 boxes?
  11. Re: Costco Kobe Beef Patties Thank you for the pointer. I just ordered a case.
  12. Re: outdoor kitchen I had my outdoor kitchen built with the KK, a 42" Lynx Gas Grill, and Firemagic PowerBurner, and I still have my Imperial Kamado around as well. I still use all these heat sources frequently, particularly when cooking for a crowd. I would not have it any other way. Having a very large sink with a garbage disposal, as well as lots of electrical outlets has also come in very handy. I mostly use the built-in KK for low and slow cooks.
  13. Pork Shoulder Country Style Ribs Boneless from Costco.
  14. Re: Total Cooking Surface Area - 978 Sq" What about the 19.5" OTB?
  15. Re: Three Extruder Machines are in the House! Yippeee! I am excited. Looking forward to your product. Been waiting patiently. Chose not to bother with A-fire or anything else. Thought I would wait for the prolific Mr D. Linkletter to deliver once again.
  16. This is why I always do my grilled vegetables on the Gas Grill, and the meats on the KK.
  17. EZ Que Basket for the 19.5" OTB For those who own a 19.5" OTB, and would like to have an EZ Que cradle now. You can have the 23" inch version modified to fit. At a local stainless steel fabricator, I had them cut out exactly 3 inches of material on each of the 8 rods in the basket and then weld the rods back together. I used the cylindrical rod on the left side provided by Dennis for fine tuning the final installation and fitting, by grinding the end a little bit ~0.25 in. It works like a charm. This modification cost me slightly more than the original purchase price of the basket from EZ Que.
  18. Let me second everything FM has said. I recently upgraded to the 19.5" KK from the Imperial Kamado (IK). I elected to install a Lynx Gas Grill & Side Burner as well and even keep the IK around in order to have multiple cooking surfaces when cooking for a crowd. If you can swing it, I would say get the KK, and a gas grill as well. I do use the charcoal cookers much more, but there are times when I am also delighted to have the gas grill in a supporting role.
  19. Rib Rack for the 19.5" OTB Dennis: Were you able to confirm whether this rack will work with 19.5", sans first section?
  20. Dennis, do you have a version of this Rib Rack for the 19.5" OTB?
  21. Well after 13 years of dedicated service, the Imperial Kamado has now been relegated to a full time reserve role. Here is the modified legless 19.5' KK in all its glory taking its place. I would like to express my profound gratitude to Dennis for agreeing to make and deliver this modified KK. I am delighted with it. I would also like to thank Professor Salt for allowing me and my architect to see and touch his KK early one Saturday morning in Irvine, CA, since that was also instrumental in my decision to buy. Dennis constructed it to fit the dimensions perfectly, here it is with grill surface at nominal counter height as requested. Here it is bathed in a glow, during a 24 hour test run of the Stoker modified with Doc Guerra's retrofits. The first official cook will have to be a Chuck Roll, pics to follow.
  22. Re: Mission Accomplished Doc: Thanks for sharing your solution, I went ahead and ordered the same parts you ordered. The package arrived today and I have just completed the modification with a minor variation. I added an Aluminum plate with a 3/4" D hole to match the internal Dia of the O-Ring gasket, providing a cleaner transition form the Rectangular cross section of the fan housing to the Guru Nozzle. I also added a silicone gasket with the Aluminum plate (this one is probably superfluous). The blower now fits perfectly onto the KK. I think I prefer the quality of construction of this nozzle, to the construction of the original one on the Stoker. Incidentally, I also went ahead and adopted your fix for the blower door sticking. I chose to use a #4 1/2" Stainless Steel Sheet Metal screw instead of a glued in Brad, and the pointed tip works very well to prevent the door from making contact with the ceiling of the fan housing.
  23. I voted for you a couple of days ago. Took the time to read your competition as well. No doubt your tutorial is the winner. Good job.
  24. Thanks. I am partial to the Kamado as well. But the gasser does come in handy every now and again to feed a crowd. Yes, the CFL lamps are indeed to light up the glass blocks.
