  1. Bob posted more info today...sadly, it looks like the CyberQ will be letting a lot of us down on the connectivity/internet control possibilities. But at least it is a better way of managing the CyberQ settings and it seems to do trending. Maybe they will revise it soon. http://www.thebbqguruforums.com/viewtop ... =1564#1564 -=Jasen=- Edit...I guess maybe he misspoke on his first post on the thread. In it he clearly states the ability to view/control the pit over the web. But in his latest post, he mentions it will not have web viewing/control.
  2. Wouldn't it taste 'fishy'? I suppose if you could filter the algae or other critters then boil it would probably be ok. But what about just making your own sea salt? Seems simple enough and there is a huge amount of info out there if you google. That way you are left with nothing but the salt and other minerals. Of course I always have to come up with the method that involves building some contraption. But there are plenty of simple methods using plastic and the sun. -=Jasen=-
  3. And that would be an easy enough bracket to make for hanging on the side table bolts. Do you really want or need another SS plate on the grill to detract from its tiled exterior. Seems to me that we have those big side table bolts on both sides of the grill which most people will never use (except for the rotis mount). Why not make use of what you have instead of adding more SS plates. Also curious about how the Guru mount pictured above is attached to the grill. If it is held on like the tiles, then too much weight hanging on it may cause it to pop off. Where as the side table bolts are welded to the inner metal ring. -=Jasen=-
  4. The more I think about the mount, a simple mod to the rotis motor bracket would probably do the trick for use with the DigiQ / CyberQ. Have not had a chance to measure, but worth a check. -=Jasen=-
  5. Guess since the Stoker is a huge hideous box already, there really isn't much you can do to make it look any worse. hehe But for those of us who like the sleek styling of our Guru, a nice looking proper mount is in order. Of course, all of this is moot point, as I mainly use my Procom which mounts nicely right on the fan housing. -=Jasen=-
  6. Re: I like this simple up front mount. It comes with a bracket doesn't it? But if you have side tables on you loose the place. I like this simple up front mount. Actually, if you have a side table, you really would not need a mount. But the mount that comes with the Guru needs to be heavily modified to mate up with your side table bolts (and then looks less than desirable). Maybe it is just me, but the fewer permanently installed gadgets on the grill, the better. There is a good chance that Guru could change their mount style in the next few years too. Not to mention, unless it serves another purpose, people without the Guru would find it useless. My vote would be for a bolt on Guru controller mount. It could hang below the bolts for a normal install or reverse to be above the bolts for a side table installed mount (if desired). And since it is removable, it can be replaced if a new mount type comes out or you decide to scrap your Guru. -=Jasen=-
  7. I sent them a similar note, and didn't even score a reply! Perhaps I'll try again... Fetz, they respond much better if you call. -=Jasen=-
  8. Flush mount....absolutely. Especially since quite a few people will not use them. No point in drawing more attention to them by having them stick out. Nice touch adding the DigiQ mount, but how about a hanging mount using existing bolts? That way it is removable. -=Jasen=-
  9. Hopefully soon I can give some more details on the CyberQ II after some hands on testing. Glad I recently upgraded to a wireless N network. Very anxious to know if it will be possible to trend like with the Stoker. I am sure Whizzy will have a full review for us soon too. -=Jasen=-
  10. Opps, forgot to add this. Sounds to me like the pit probe being to close was your culprit. As everyone stated, this makes the pit temp read low. But this also means your fire burns hotter trying to make the pit temp read the correct value. Which in turn, the dome temp will read a much higher value. That would also explain your higher than average temp differential between the two locations. Anyway, no worries, easy fix! -=Jasen=-
  11. Guru suggests placing you pit probe at least 2" from the meat. http://www.thebbqguru.com/bbqGuruU.cfm# ... ePlacement Also, thermal saturation of the ceramic plays a big part in your dome temp to grate temp differences. If you let your grill get up to temps an hour before you placed on your meat, there would probably be less of a difference. But then again, who cares as your wasting charcoal. I always try to get the probe somewhere above the deflector and 2" from the meat. That seems to be about the best representation you can get. Pick one temp location or the other and when your happy with it, just stick to it for consistency. -=Jasen=-
  12. Not editing...merely stating. And btw, bite me monkey boy! -=Jasen=-

    Bacon Explosion

Re: Bacon-explosion I think you missed the boat....hehe. This was already posted yesterday right below your post. viewtopic.php?t=2908 I suppose it is so good, it warrants two posts....hehe! -=Jasen=- Edit....I merged the two topics.
  15. It's more fun when you don't expect or like it!! -=Jasen=-
  16. Sorry, I must correct the above statement, "Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder"! -=Jasen=-
  17. Well, it looks like the Guru folks have finally came out with their model that compares with the Stoker. Here is a little bit of information on it. http://www.thebbqguruforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=593 -=Jasen=-
  18. And off to a nice start! Read the last sections of the benediction at the inaugural ceremony! http://voices.washingtonpost.com/inaugu ... s=rss_blog
  19. Will be interesting to see how many parodies come true over the next 4 years. -=Jasen=-
  20. Very Nice Fetz! Those legs make it even more versatile than the one I made up. I can see a lot of use for the added benefit they give of being able to use it above the main/lower grill. May have to welds some legs on mine now! Or be lazy and buy one of yours..hehe. How come I don't see any pics with food on it? hehe -=Jasen=-
  21. Re: Final question on this cook
  22. Re: General Cooking Question... You really have to drop the temps on a low/slow cook if you want to go direct. The KK is just so efficient, which makes it harder to do the direct. There is a thread in the accessory section where I experimented with drilling holes in the defector and calling it a diffuser. Had really good results. Might want to give it a read if your thinking of directs. -=Jasen=-
