  1. Timbuktu crab cakes Never had the crab cakes with pork, potatoes, veggies, etc. Is that how you did your Timbuktu?
  2. I'm so glad that Johnnyboy's Jammies have become one of the first accessories KOmodo owners buy. Even before their cookers arrive!! Word of mouth is such great advertising, and Johnnyboy makes a wonderful product.
  3. Re: And these photos are where? It was imaginary bird, of course. EVERYONE imagines a perfect "best ever" TG bird. Only a few of us achieve it. (I'm the one on the other side of the camera.)
  4. Re: Charcoal ordering for dummies Check out Whizzy's reviews of almost every kind in the world. http://www.nakedwhiz.com/lump.htm As I recall, BGE is Royal Oak, in different packaging. But Whizzy's database will tell you.
  5. THIS DISCUSSION NOT RELATED TO THE KK OTHER MANUFACTURER'S PRODUCT Larry - I think the concern is that OEM deflector doesn't leave enough room around the outside of the cooker, which blocks the heat from rising. The heat builds up and causes the cooker itself to crack at or about the midsection (depending on where you put the deflector). Most resolutions I've heard of involved using a smaller deflector.
  6. O. But what does one eat a cheek with? I KNOW what one beats a cheek with... But that's not the same at all...
  7. Lookin for KK in all the wrong places.... KK puts us back where weeee belong... where Iggles fly (that's Philadelphia, by the way)...on a mountain high (that's Denver, I guess)...
  8. Um... Let's see if I remember how I did it last year. Other than a modified Mad Max and maybe a Jiarby brine. I forget. Oh - mine was a k5. Bird on the rack, aluminum foil pan on the lower, on top of deflector, on top of x thingy. I can't remember if there were gravy drippings or not. Maybe not.... but that's why we make turkey broth out of the "what's that inside the bird" package. No probes. Just jabbed with instant read now and then. It tasted nice, was very moist. Skin was extremely roasty and brown. Probably wouldn't bother brining again - way too much like work, since the brine bucket didn't fit in the frigerator, and I had to use a cooler with ice and a bagged bird in brine overnight on the back steps. Found pics! YAY!! I'm not as lame as I thought.
  9. Re: Well gee... Well, you all know how fabulous I am, and I post here now and then anyway... He'll prolly be back.
  10. The chickens I've made on my cooker have been the can type. I used a cola once, and it was very good. Later, I purchased one of the more high fallutin kind - instead of just using the can, it's a stainless steel thing with a tube and a tray. Fill the tube with wine or whatever, and off you go. Can't say that the high fallutin one was any better than the cola can, but both were delicious!
  11. My eyebrows grew back!! Eyelashes, too.
  12. Well, he was going to wear black Dickies with the shirts, but I said he'd look like Aloha undertaker. So, he said he'd wear khakis. Maybe his khakis are shorts! I didn't ask.
  13. Well, he wears them all occasions that aren't work. Doesn't that constitute "party"? The police department's funny about an officer's uniforms. Otherwise, I'm sure he'd wear them all the time, too. These I made for a special occasion, though. He just had his 50th birthday, and is going on a cruise. He needed something dressy to wear to the dining room. lol.
  14. Sanny...who sews... A friend of many years was lamenting that his closet has a horrible malfunction. 20 years ago, I sewed him 2 Hawaiian shirts, size large. Then 4 years ago, I sewed him 2, size XL. He tried them on, but found the closet had shrunk them!! No longer would the XL fit! Horrors! Could I maybe make him some 2XL? Rotten closet... Can you see the pockets? That's one of his favorite parts. He and his friends get tipsy (these are party shirts, after all), and he makes them try to find the pockets.
  15. Hairdryer is fine, but if there's any ash in the cooker, forget it! CLOUDS of sneezes!!! What a mess. Ask me how I know....
  16. Wow! How cool is that herringbone sort of pattern on the bronze/brown one! Lookit that!!! Lookit!!! Stripes going outward from the handle. Is that just the neatest thing???
  17. What a rotten parent you are, Scouterpf. Sheesh. OBVIOUS demonstration of favoritism. Sad.
  18. ooh - yer right. Kid under 3. Sigh. Good luck!
