braindoc Posted July 7, 2021 Report Posted July 7, 2021 Has anyone grilled pizza directly on the grates? I’m thinking about Al Forno style pizza. This Providence, Rhode Island restaurant is often credited as the birthplace of grilled pizza, back in the mid-eighties I think.
C6Bill Posted July 8, 2021 Report Posted July 8, 2021 Not me, I like big thick pizza. For that style you’d be leaning more to Neapolitan
Dono Posted July 8, 2021 Report Posted July 8, 2021 Not me either. Sounds interesting. I’m curious now.
tony b Posted July 8, 2021 Report Posted July 8, 2021 Success would depend upon the stability of the dough not drooping through the grate. Maybe like a flatbread style?
braindoc Posted July 8, 2021 Author Report Posted July 8, 2021 (edited) Here is some information about the Al Forno pizza. It is quite good, especially the spicy oil pie that is available off the menu. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjzqK_YwNTxAhWsmeAKHVB3AtgQFjAPegQIKBAD&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.saveur.com%2Fbest-grilled-pizza-rhode-island%2F&usg=AOvVaw27KE0bUyXvq5MadavGKOGo Edited July 8, 2021 by braindoc Addition 1
