tinyfish Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 My local grocery store had some rib steaks on sale so guess whats for dinner. The steak was not very thick so a quick direct cook was all that was needed. There was some peach wood that was left in the charcoal basket from the brisket cook so I used it up. For those who have never tried peach wood give it a try you won't be disappointed. Had a nice close up shot but opps I deleted it... 1
Poochie Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 I clicked on your photo and it was the size of a real plate of food in front of me. That's a heck of a good looking meal. Myron Mixon's favorite smoking wood is peach. You're in good company.
MacKenzie Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 tinyfish, super supper you have there. It is making my mouth water:)
bryan Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 Can't figure out how to get this off the screen.
bosco Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 Tony sounds like you took advantage of the 8.99 Fortino's sale lol! Good looking cook and I will tell you that peach wood is my absolute favourite smoking wood that I have ever used.
tinyfish Posted August 10, 2015 Author Report Posted August 10, 2015 Tony sounds like you took advantage of the 8.99 Fortino's sale lol! Good looking cook and I will tell you that peach wood is my absolute favourite smoking wood that I have ever used. I got the peach wood on your recommendations and its everything you said it was. I recently purchased some sugar maple too and I'm liking that a lot. I have a brisket soaking in a Montreal smoked meat brine that I can't wait to use the sugar maple on. I'll be back at Fortino's later this week for sure.
tony b Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 tinyfish, you getting your smoking woods from Fruita? They are da Bomb! http://www.fruitawoodchunks.com/
tinyfish Posted August 10, 2015 Author Report Posted August 10, 2015 I got the smoke wood from a local place here in Canada.
tony b Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 Yeah, that silly border does get in the way sometimes, doesn't it! Fruita probably can't ship to you.
bosco Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 I have ordered from fruitawood and have brought over the border without issue in the past. Finding the smoking wood shack that I believe Tiny Fish has used has been great. The price is fantastic and excellent quality with local woods
tinyfish Posted August 11, 2015 Author Report Posted August 11, 2015 Your right Bosco, I have been happy with the wood from Smoke Shack Wood Chunks. I have ordered peach and sugar maple from them. Any Canadians looking for smoke wood should give them a try if they need wood.
ckreef Posted August 12, 2015 Report Posted August 12, 2015 Late to the party but really nice looking steak.
