Shuley Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 Yet another use for koko Kamado when it is blazing hot outside....is it just me or is it actually easier to bake in a komodo than the oven? 2
MacKenzie Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 No Shuley, it's not just you. I do that too and I'm sure we are not alone. It's great. Casserole looks very tasty.:)

Stile88 Posted September 1, 2016 Report Posted September 1, 2016 Looks delicious who needs an oven when u have a kk
ckreef Posted September 1, 2016 Report Posted September 1, 2016 Not only do you keep the heat out of the house you also get a bit of Smokey flavor. Reef's Bistro
tony b Posted September 1, 2016 Report Posted September 1, 2016 Like I remind folks, not only do I use the grill as my oven, I don't even own a conventional oven.
Shuley Posted September 3, 2016 Author Report Posted September 3, 2016 No Shuley, it's not just you. I do that too and I'm sure we are not alone. It's great. Casserole looks very tasty. Thank you! I love baked ziti. My family pretty much cleared out the pan which is good....but I was expecting leftovers lol.
Shuley Posted September 3, 2016 Author Report Posted September 3, 2016 Nope, you are not alone. I do the same. I love the hint of smoke it imparts also. 1

Shuley Posted September 3, 2016 Author Report Posted September 3, 2016 Looks delicious who needs an oven when u have a kk I am hesitant to do sweets on my kk yet. I will try it one day.

Shuley Posted September 3, 2016 Author Report Posted September 3, 2016 Like I remind folks, not only do I use the grill as my oven, I don't even own a conventional oven. Do you find the Kamado suitable for sweet baking?
MacKenzie Posted September 3, 2016 Report Posted September 3, 2016 I have done a lemon loaf from a mix and it was just fine. I wouldn't put it on too soon after lighting the KK though. I really don't want smoke in my cake.Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
tony b Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 The coco charcoal has almost no smoky flavor; so if you have some of that, try it for baking and see what you think? 1
ckreef Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 If you get the KK heat soaked really good and use very small vent settings you won't get much smoke flavor. Mrs skreef has cooked a lot of sweets on the KK. Never noticed much smoke flavor.
skreef Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 The coco charcoal has almost no smoky flavor; so if you have some of that, try it for baking and see what you think? Yes I use that as well. It's great for baking. Dennis sent us some and I was very pleased with it. Mrs. Reef's Bistro

Used my over for the first time in months lol.
Shuley Posted September 5, 2016 Author Report Posted September 5, 2016 The coco charcoal has almost no smoky flavor; so if you have some of that, try it for baking and see what you think? I have no more left but I don't bake sweets often enough to justify buying it. Nor do I like to have tons of charcoal sitting around. My backyard space is extremely limited.
