cruzmisl
Well, just pulled another bird off the rotisserie. I find that by loading the KK up with lump, letting the lump fully ignite and then piling it up on the back of the cooker significantly reduces smoke and it'a a lot less work. Grease drips down on the ashes. Also for this 3lb bird I cooked it at a pretty high 550f. This yields a beautiful skin as you can see. Any lower and the skin can be a bit rubbery. Just thought I'd share my technique.
ThreeDJ16
Man that chicken looks good. I had one last night from Publix and it could not hold a candle to yours! I cannot wait to have my own rotisserie chicken! Just curious about something; how much room do you have on each side of that rotisserie? You have the 6" cradle right? I am thinking of getting mine a little longer as it looks like a couple more inches might fit in there? How much longer do you think would still work and slide in the holes properly? -=Jasen=-
cruzmisl
I do have the 6" version. I'll measure as soon as the KK cools down. Thanks for the compliment. Joe
DennisLinkletter
Now that's a good lookin' Chicken... Now that's a good lookin' Chicken... No beer can birds for me. If you pre-brine you can broil it longer and burn of more fat and get the skin paper thin and Krispy... The cradles are all 17.5" long and come both 6 and 8" wide.. That looks like the 6"
DavidS
Chicken looks great. That is a good idea about the coals. I will try it when I get the shafts that fit the OTB.
rorkin
Did you have the top down or open.. How long did it take to cook ??
cruzmisl
I left the lid closed the entire cook and it only took 30-40 minutes. I don't remember the exact time.
Curly
Is there a way to cook more than one at a time? Can more than one cradle fit on there? I guess a little bailing wire would do it huh?
Firemonkey
The EZQue site shows 2 chickens on the same cradle in one of their pics. I dont know how many hold down attachments you get with the cradle, but if you want more they were like $20.
DavidS
Hold downs for E-Z Que With the 8 inch cradle you get 4 hold downs.
Curly
So does that mean you could fit 4 on there? Looks like 3 might fit the size of Cruzmisl's.
samantha
Maybe four 'petite' birds.

Farmer John
So now the confusion sets in What do we order from Dennis and what size rod do we order from EZQ? If I have this right we need to order a rod adapter from Dennis. Order motor, rod (which size), and baskets from EZQ. Correct ... yes/no John
ThreeDJ16
Re: So now the confusion sets in What do we order from Dennis and what size rod do we order from EZQ? If I have this right we need to order a rod adapter from Dennis. Order motor, rod (which size), and baskets from EZQ. Correct ... yes/no John Hello! I edited the posts above; the 17.5" is what Dennis recommends, not a 21.5". So the info in this post or the following link, is correct ( http://www.komodokamado.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=704 ). Sorry if I added to any confusions in my discussion above when I mentioned seeing possible room for a bigger cradle. Dennis' kit fits the 17.5", so anything different would not work with his kit. Though if any of you with a rotisserie get a chance, I would still be interested in a measurement of the additional space since I like to tinker anyway - hehe. Thanks, -=Jasen=-
samantha
This information still needs to get summarized in a single location, as it has come up a couple of times within the forum and when the correct information gets posted it seems to eventually get lost in the thread. Though when Dennis finishes his new web site, I am sure this type of info will be available there. -=Jasen=-
DavidS
My cradle is 17.5 inches. Just remeasured. The shafts I received will not work. One shaft on the inside of the cooker motor side is too long and the the one that slides into the motor shaft is too short.
ThreeDJ16
Darn, sorry to hear that. I am sure you will get fixed up very soon! Did you get the 6" or 8" wide cradle? I am looking for opinions from people who have either and how they like them. My debate is whether to get both or just get the 8". -=Jasen=-
