Sweet and Sour Tofu with Mushroom and Cashews

Recommended Posts

Decided to smoke the tofu for a little extra flavour, used the pot with cherry wood for 1.5 hours at 330F.

This is Thai tofu so it has some spices added.

You grabbed my attention with this one MacKenzie!    Many moons ago I was vegan (and 35lbs to the south of the scale's needle :D)...and in my hometown of Omaha Nebraska we had, back in the '70's, a small grocery owned and run by a Japanese family, and they made tofu weekly.   It was sublime and I've never had it as good since.

I'll give smoking tofu a go and try this 'recipe' out!

I'm not scared of tofu and yours looks awesome. I think it's time for you to get a cold smoker. I'm confident you could do one justice.

Supposedly a few members have one but I've yet to see a cold smoke posted. Everyone seems  hung up on the air pump when less than $10 at Walmart or a local aquarium store would have solved that problem.

That is terrible, Tony, I got all excited when I started to read the post. :(

Here is what is left after my cherry tofu smoke. :)

BTW, I used a little flour/water to seal the edge but this time I wiped off the excess as it will burn and not smell soooo nice.:)

I don't epect this lump to have much heat value in it, it not very dense. ;) Maybe I'll use it to start my fire.
