It came with two blades one damacus for special occasions and a stainless steel one for everyday use. Otherwise, any lateral stresses might eventually cause that area of the blade to crack. And, don't bash your knuckles under the handle, either. Doesn't look like a lot of clearance there? Seems like the blade should have come almost to the edge of the board, so that the handle was outside the cutting board area. My countertops were getting kind of cluttered but they sent me a hook so I hung it on the wall looks pretty nice. Even if I just use it for a wall hanger it was cheap enough to make the kitchen look a lot nicer.
