Butternut Squash Soup

Recommended Posts

Start the day off with a nice roast of a butternut squash.

A little butter and maple syrup in the hole and they are ready for the grill @425-450 F for an hour or so.

On the grill.

Done and what a wonderful aroma from the maple syrup and butter.

Now for the soup, sauteing some onions. Like my tasting spoon????

This spoon has two ends, one for scooping up a little soup and hold the other end to your mouth and the soup just runs to you for a taste.

Ready to serve. :)

Nice, but I really love that spoon!

Who's your friend swimming in the soup, MacKenzie?

And, I don't even want to know why you cut that squash like that - crazy!

That spoon is neat, a friend gave it to me. The little fish was given to me by another friend. That is the only way to cut that squash as far as I know. What would you have done?

I was referring to the wavy lines - that's not standard.

I wondered if that was what you meant, it just happens that I find the thin blade on that cutter works really well. I looks like this and the handle does get in the way but the blade is easy to push thru the tough squash.  image.png.9e446040d4912c47db4d6e5107138414.png

I agree, she bought it a Nova Scotia historical sight where they make them. It is called a sipping spoon if I recall correctly but don't bank on that. I expect they are closed this time of year. It is probably a three hour drive from me.Maybe next summer I"ll make a visit.

Hmmm.  I have a potter friend. Might see if she thinks making such a spoon would be an interesting project.  Race to see if I have success there before you make it to the source :-o
