  1. Sorry about the poor photos. Wife went out tonight for a gin night with some mates. One of the husbands joined me for a steak.... Then the kids had some friends over... so 1 steak became 2. And this was my only chance for a snap, before it was gone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  2. You’re very welcome @AJR. Please let me know how it beads/repels water if you happen to see it rained upon. I’ve been using it as well, but haven’t had a chance to see the hydrophobic properties on the grill. It’s amazing on automotive paint. if you ever want to use it on your vehicles, let me know. I can give you some good tips so you can minimize scratching/marring. 😊

  4. Welcome Kevin. Trust @Basher to do the Aussie thing of immediately shortening your name. I will wait for a couple of posts before I do that. 🤪 Great to have another UK member on board. Looking forward to seeing your cooks.

  5. Just used a magic eraser (somehow a damn bird left me a small present on the cap), a multi-purpose cleaner, and finished up with the CS3. Looks beautiful. Thanks for the tip, @Wingman505

  6. Thanks for the info. I think it'd be fine there then in that case. The shelves may stick out 3.5" on each side in front of a window and door respectively, but the door opens the other way so there should be about 31" clearance for people to get through the door. Alternatively, I could probably scoot the KK over 7" and it would be off center with the left shelf mostly in front of the window, which would look a bit tacky but isn't a big deal. If I do buy, I was planning on keeping the shelves in the house when I wasn't using the KK just to try and protect the teak. The 40" should be fine, but if it needs to be that far out from the wall it does seem like it would sort of be in the way when not in use. I could put it on the front side of the porch instead and open the lid off the porch, but I would rather it not get rained on, cover or not, when it costs that much.

  7. I've been lurking this forum for a couple of years now and have been admiring these fine cooking machines from afar for long enough! The penny jar is full so it's time to find a candidate. Since it is a penny jar fund, I'm looking for used vs new, maybe new someday! I'm based in Indianapolis, have been a BGE owner for 10 years and own 2 of those. Ready to upgrade. Looking for a 23 or 32. If anyone out there is considering a sale, please let me know. Good Cooking!

  8. Just a suggestion but u could sell your eggs and combine that money with your penny jar fund and go with a brand new KK.

  10. @tekobo, the Meguiars product is perfect for the way you intend to use it. The CS3 has cleaning & shine agents in addition to the silica dioxide protection element. CS3 isnt going to cut through any substantial crud. It provides lubrication and lifts particles off of the surface so you may wipe them away without scratching. The Meguiars is what detailer call a last step product (LSP). You mentioned you plan to “finish” with the Hybrid Spray Wax and that exactly how you should use it. Clean and dry the exterior first, then use that LSP. If you have a microfiber towel you can use, I’d suggest that for the final wipe down. The benefit of the silica dioxide is primarily protection longevity and shine. This product will protect against UV and water better and longer than a spray wax or traditional paste wax. 😊

  11. Hello. I'm new here. A friend gave me this grill. Need to find out if it's a genuine KK grill or a knock off. I would like to know how to go about getting a new bottom fire box and what I can do to re tile it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jon

  13. When you first posted about this product @Wingman505 I tried to find an equivalent in the UK. Then I stopped looking because I thought it was a bit ridiculous given I don't worry about getting our car shiny, let alone our KKs. Now you are drawing me in... I would like to give my KKs a "service" before I send them to their new homes and I did wonder about finishing them with a product like the one you recommended. What do you think about this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Meguiars-G190526EU-Hybrid-Ceramic-768ml/dp/B07N9DZ673/ref=pd_ybh_a_32?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=DFH559J59RWZS21ZRAZY ?

  16. Hello. We have a grill like the one in the photos above. The spring has rusted and broken. How can we place it? Thank you.

  17. @Alohapiggy, I may do that if my patience runs out. I have an XL and MiniMax. Am hoping to gift the XL to my dad to bring him into the Kamado fold. MiniMax stays. I love that thing.

  18. Agreed tony b. I see a few come up every year on CraigsList, no hurry here, so I'm starting my search knowing it may take months to find something. I use SearchTempest to search Craigslist nationally. Fingers crossed.

  20. I know, I didn’t get a pic of it while It cooked on Hestia. Here’s a pork belly I made last weekend. Smoked it using coffee char and coffee smoking wood. I then sliced it, and seared the slices over high heat. The sliced pork picture below is before the sear.
