One of those rare days where I won't be firing up the KK. 8+ inches of snow yesterday and it's below zero outside. Hunkering down with Brunch of Eggs Benedict and Mimosas with the leftover bubbly from NYE! Stay safe out there!

Happy new year everyone, I hope you had a great holiday! We had total fire bans here on the days leading up to Xmas, as we had a run of days that were 40+ Celsius. Luckily I cooked my beef ribs for Xmas day, a few days before on the KK, as I predicted the fire bans coming. Reheated them in a slow cooker on Xmas day, they went down a treat! @Poochie Who Dat! I've never seen this Royal Oak before, so not judging (even if it's briquettes). The "regular" stuff in the red bag is total crap! Scrap lumber pieces mostly. Burns up super fast. And you worry if it's been treated or not? My thoughts - if you've spent the $$ on the KK, why in God's name would you use cheap-ass charcoal in it?

It goes without saying that I'll pick up the tab on all of 'em. Don't forget to load up on accessories!

The royal oak, red bag, available up here reminds me of the white fog they used to spray mosquitoes with in the 1970’s.

This Royal Oak isn't cheap ass charcoal. It says right on the bag...100% all natural hardwood lump briquettes. That means no filler or other crap in it. I've used it for at least 6 years and never had any problems with it. There are some crumbs at the bottom but I'm sure that your $3 a pound charcoal has crumbs on the bottom of the bag too. I paid a lot for my Komodo so I should pay a lot for my charcoal. My smoke wood should be imported expensive stuff from very far away too. We all know a hickory tree branch that fell isn't worthy. Speaking of great all natural lump charcoal briquettes, Weber makes a wonderful product. It's $20 a bag for 20 pounds. It's on sale now at TruValue stores for $7.99 a bag. I won't buy it because my KK cost so much. Lord have mercy. And to think that Tony is one of the smartest engineers in the country!
