  2. Well shucks; here I thought my post had done someone some good.... Sorry... My mistake.
  3. You're too funny JD!!!! Don't worry, your materials should be delivered Friday; should have your 23" OTB cover in the mail Saturday.. I can see you need it.... 19.5 will have to wait until I get a manikin built. Which I'm hoping to do Sunday providing I can get a drawing to you today for the measurements!!! Unless Dennis sends them before hand.... hint, hint.... reminder... reminder...
  4. As not to confuse.. This is NOT a Komodo Kamado It's a Richard Johnson Kamado. Dutch Oven Chicken
  5. Pyro, FYI. Appreciate the comment; however, I'm not the Whiz.

    Chestnuts

JD They turned out great!!! Here's some pictures of the process. Only thing is the charcoal I used sucked!! I need to check Whiz site to see what he saysabout it. I picked up a 20 lb bag from True Value, the bag reads hardwood lump, that's about it. But from the moment I hit it with my gas burner I thought I set off the next 4th of July fireworks. Sparks flying everywhere; then when I opened the dome everything was covered in soot, including the pan. Here goes. Packaged Chestnuts. Dome up to temp. In the pan they go. Smokin Away 30 minutes later; ready to come off And here they are!! Yum, yum good. Even the next day, 30 second warm up in the micro were just as good. Thanks JD for your instructions. Next time I think I will make a larger puncture hole. I punctured both sides. No exploding bombs, but think a larger cut will make them easier to open.

    Chestnuts

JD, the Wife just called, said she found chestnuts while shopping today!! Yipee!! Said they're pre-packaged; she bought the only two packages the store had. I'll be roasting tonight!!! I will report the results. I plan on using K and Lodge cast iron pizza stone.
  8. He-he No kidding, I wouldn't let mother nature near that beautiful piece either!! That's a lot of Sunbrella Buddy!!! But very doable! In fact I'm currently working with a guy building Whiz's table.

    Chestnuts

Awesome, JDBower, Thanks !!! You bet I'll have fun. One question, do the chestnuts need to be roated via a single layer, or as you suggested using a pan, can you fill a pan (more than one layer) to roast the nuts? I was thinking I'd use my Lodge cast iron pizza pan. But I also have dutch ovens... Am I losing it, what happened to the beginning of the thread? I don't see it.
  10. FM, Awesome explaination and photo. Thanks. I think I got it.
  11. Is cast iron carbon steel? I slide cast iron pans across the grate as much as I do steaks.
  12. OMG Warm Roasted Chessnuts!!! Love em'. Remember them from the German Christmas Markets!!! What an idea!!! Thanks!!! Tell me how, cast iron pizza pan....? temp...? I never even thought about doing those..... Now I got to find some.....
  13. Thanks FM! Your knowledge always amazes me. Now I have to ask what's the problem with carbon steel?
  14. FM, that's why you need a cover!!! Wayne, thanks for the compliments and photo. Nice shot!
  15. I don't have either; but IMHO the grillfloss looks flimsy. Yes/No?
  16. Wayne, now can we see the beast out of the crate?????
  17. For anyone in doubt; I can vouch for U2 craftsmanship as well!!! I too have a set of his grinders. Again, craftsmanship is impecable!!! You won't go wrong buying from U2.
  18. Nice Grill Wayne!!! Chances are you posted your KK picture somewhere else; but I'm playing catchup after being off yesterday. This is the first post I've seen. Just wanted to tell you how nice it looks. Glad for you to see it's arrival...
  19. Larry, I've used ECC to sear steaks. I wouldn't worry. It gets hot!! Make sure you put plenty in if you're concerned, but I don't think 4-5 hours would be asking too much from a full load of coal. WSM should be able to shut down tight enough after the cook to save what ever coal you haven't used. You also might consider stacking the ECC like little chimneys. That will help with the air flow; more air more hot. Good luck.
  20. Larry, I haven't used ECC outside of a ceramic either; however, for whatever it's worth I can't see any reason it would not work. ECC burns on top a stove so I imagine ECC would burn anywhere air can get to it. Good luck, let us know how it goes. John
  21. Next go-round I'll bet you add "the dance" step to the recipe ..... Trying to keep both feet off the floor at the same time!!!! Wishing you a fast recovery too!!!
  22. Logic! Their nuts would fall out the bottom!!!!
  23. Awesome Dave!!!! Check you out Dude!!! You're a star in the making!!! Need some help washing up, polishing stainless, or anything???? hehe I need to be on the books before you meet Opra......
  24. Excellent Post Dennis. Thanks. Maybe want to copy/paste the last brisket episode with pics to the recipe section. (Cuz by default; when I need it that's where I'd go lookin' fer it first. hehe-he)
