Doesn't it always amaze you how wonderful leftovers are, especially when done on your very own KK? Geo - great pic and I'm sure it was quite tasty. Kudos to ya!

That's some kind of very fine breakfast, MacKenzie! Much better than what I had. I'm coming to your house!

KK Two-Three + Pronghorn + Cast Iron + 600ºF = Dinner tonight
CeramicChef replied to dstr8's topic in Miscellaneous Meats
Charles - a Pronghorn is a type of antelope generally found in Rockie Mountain states. You'll generally find them on the plains immediately before the mountain slopes. The Pronghorn isnt really a big animal; probably less than 75# dressed out.they get their name from the little prong that juts off of the main horn on either side of their head. Good eating. -
Newg4 - placing smoke wood is always problematic. Szgzyies (Spelling) who is a member here described a smoke pot made out of a 2Qt Lodge cast iron pit with 3 holes drilled in the bottom (YES, the bottom). He fills it with the smoke wood of his choice and places it right on top of the coals. The smoke is ejected downward right into the fire. That little downward ejection burns off all the nasty volatiles and you're left with thin blue smoke, the holy grail. You can search for that post using the search function. I also posted something of the pot I made. It has lots of pics. Notice that I drilled too many holes. You only need three holes and you're good to go. You can also search for my post on how NOT to drill too many holes. This smoke pot works great and thanks to Szyzgies for the idea. His solution solves the quandary of where to place your smoke wood. I often use combinations of wood and pellets in my smoke pot. It simply works. Again, nice cook!

Charles - that is one very tasty looking cook! Leaves me drooling like the fool I am. Congrats on the steaks and not melting the KK!

Skreef - there's nothing in the world more fascinating to a Kitty Cat than a nice Koi pond. Of course, given what Koi cost, you don't want your Kitty being too good at fishing! You and ckreef have one really beautiful heb garden. A job very, very well done. Giga-kudos to you, Charles, and Hawk!

Tony, Im actually losing weight lately by eating better choices and cooking them healthier on Beauty! and TheBeast. -
What time is dinner served? Very nice cook. Kudos all over the place to ya!

Dennis - I know the pain you're enduring right now with that shoulder. Get ahead and stay ahead of the pain. I Always took a pain pill an hour before rehab on both my rehabs of rotator cuffs. Rehab, while not fun, is essential. Pain makes cowards of us all. I thought I was big and bad, rough and tough. I learned differently with shoulder rehab. Knees were nothing compared to shoulders. Get well and do what the PTs tell you to do. You're gonna do just fine.

@Stile88 - I've got a 32" and I find no real appreciable difference in lump consumption when I compare it to my 19" on comparable cooks. Once you get both units heat soaked, the amount of fuel is really inconsequential. The 32" takes longer to heat soak than the 19", but the increased lump consumption isn't all that great. The 32" is a very efficient cooker. I suggest that everyone get the largest cooker that fits their budget. Here's the deal: It's much better to have the size and not need it than to need the size and can't get it. I've owned my 32" for some time now and I wouldn't trade for it. It's the single finest, most versatile cooker I've ever owned. But then, it's a KK!

@Lannoos - Buddy, you've covered the waterfront and seem to have a good understanding of why you're ordering certain items. Nice! I would urge you to consider a rotisserie. I didn't order one when I ordered TheBeast, my 32", I love the rotisserie and I urge every KK owner to consider getting one. Finally, think about not ordering the automatic controller, the DigiQ. I've got one and it's OT something I use very often. The KK line is remarkably stable with respect to temp. TheBeast held 350 +/- 10 for over 50 hours. Now, there are KK cookers here to use an automatic controller to great effect. I just don't see the DigiQ as an imdispensable piece of equipment. Youre gonna absolutely love your KK. It's so far out in front of others grills, smokers, ceramics it's not even a race! Welcome aboard! -

It's really hard to be a good burger in my estimation. You've got the perfect meal right in your hands… protein, veggies, carbs. And @MacKenzie, these burgers are first class! Kudos as usual!

Heylo, Dennis! Glad to see you're on your feet. I had a couple of rotator cuff surgeries within 9 months a couple of years back. Do EXACTLY what the PTs tell you, no more, no less. The rehab is the most important thing to regaining as much mobility as is possible. Here's wishing you a speedy and uneventful recovery. Oh, and take your pain meds on schedule. Stay ahead of the pain, particularly before rehab.

The crate for my 32", TheBeast, lives on as a dog house for a friend of mine who breeds Mastiffs. It just fits. Angel, the mastiff, just loves her crate. She's as gentle as a lamb despite her bark and her size. Just like TheBeast!
