tony b You are a genius!! I tried out your theory. After about 25 open and closings Prometheus had shifted a Noticeable amount. Mystery solved.

    Runaway Komodo

Good theory. I haven't thought of that. Will give it a try and report back.
  3. Sounds like a tasty recipe but it's been a long time since I had anything fried other than French fries.

    Runaway Komodo

I thought about rubber mat. I just need to find one I'm confident in not to melt and make a mess of the bottom of the KK. I guess I need to shove a temp probe under there to see how hot the bottom gets.

    Runaway Komodo

Nope not talking about runaway temps. It's physically trying to runaway - LOL Long story. After a month or so of heavy use I noticed my Komodo was not sitting in the same position on my cinder blocks stand as it was when I placed it there. I figured there was one of two possible explanations: 1 - Somebody tried to steal it. They picked it up and it was a little heavy for one person to handle so they set it back down (in a slightly different position) or 2 - Because of the heating/cooling expansion and contraction of either the KK itself or the cinder blocks the KK shifts position by a hair with each cook. After heavy use day after day the movement is noticeable. To try and figure this out I repositioned it on the stand and with a Sharpie and marked the stand where it sat. A month or so later here is it's new posit compared to the marks I made. Glad it wasn't someone trying to steal it. Will have to come up with a better stand in the future (been planning on that anyway). Until then I'll keep a close eye on it. Don't runaway KK - just because I abuse you doesn't mean I don't love you - LOL

  8. They look mighty tasty. I hate when I screw up the salt. My disappointment level is usually fairly high when I do it.

  14. My appetizer challenge entry. Cracker crust pizza bites with your choice of two decadent toppings: Surf: Komodo grilled shrimp topped with Crab Bomb stuffing and a caper. Turf: CI seared, MD rare, flat iron steak topped with a feta/blue cheese crumble and drizzled with a savory steak sauce. The cracker bites. The Surf. The Turf. Let the party begin.

  19. I truly believe it's not on the user end. Way too sporadic for that and I log onto other forums day or night without issue. At this point I'm just dealing with it and hope Dennis' IT person will eventually figure it out. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  20. Yea, I don't cook with a lot of chili or hot peppers as my family doesn't really like spicey (other than me). I have an idea or two forming. I just need to first get through my appetizer cook this weekend. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
