Welcome to the forum You KOmodo will be picked up today... Now the long wait begins.. You do remember the copunt down before Christmas.. This is sorta, kinda like that!

My house in Bali was visited by burglars who climbed over the back wall leaving with laptops, cameras, cell phones, Ipods, watches and my loaded briefcase with my passport etc.. Luckily I had backed everything up early last month. Today I bought a very slick new MAC (of course;-) and I've been downloading and rebuilding for hours.. It's going to take me a little while to rebuild my online life.. But I'll be back on track in a day or so..

Thanks Soo much for the Kudos! My workers think I'm mad.. and probably a hundred little details that I obsess over are not seen by many of my customers but that's not the point. When I get feedback like this it gives me the validation to rant and rave some more. I was grinning while reading this and when I finished I had actual goose bumps.. Thank you, it's great to have our efforts appreciated. I'm loving being able to call building these cookers work. I look forward to you cooking on it.

Re: Adding Temperature probe to old Komodo If you have a KOmodo, count up eight tiles from the handle and there is a pre-drilled hole. I'm guessing your cooker is not a KOmodo as the earliest KOmodo is 5.5 years old.. Not really out in the shed age yet. Take a peek in our galleries and see if it looks like a KK.. But there is no reason you can't drill thru your cookers dome with a masonry drill bit.. better not use your drills hammer setting... Just go slow and have something solid behind it. Dennis

Future KOmodos will be sent w/ the tube installed. To avoid these frustrating situations.. I've had some Guru tubes machined up and will be sending future KOmodos with the tube installed.

Inducer tube.. This is the small inducer tube.. The Guru faceplate was designed for it. The hole was CNC (digitally) cut for this tube. When held up to the hole it will appear to be too large for the hole. But with a firm tap.. it will slip in. Sometimes one side will be higher and need to be tapped down. Once in, it is very solid, tight and does not need any silicon.

Re: Hey Whiz I only recommend the KK gas burner for those who want to get to searing high temps quickly. It is the fastest way to go from 0-700º. For low and slow starting, I actually recommend NOT using it even if you own one. The reason behind this is that it lights too much charcoal, too large of an area and lights from the bottom. If lit from the bottom it burns up and as the charcoal turns to ash the new charcoal above tumbles down on top of it. I think it's best to light a small amount of charcoal.. maybe a tennis balls worth, on top and let it burn down into the fuel. I've retired my charcoal starter and my mapp torch for those little paraffin starter blocks.. Toss one in.. cover it up a little.. set your airflow and forget it. When you finally check in it will be sitting pretty at 235º

There will be two on the next 40' container For those who are admiring the bronze beauty, there will be two more on the next 40' container. Not sure if I will be able to consistently purchase this tile or whether it will be available in the future as it is one half of the Autumn Nebula/Bronze metal tweed tile pattern. I'm getting it from a retail store who custom orders it, it is not standard production. Just a heads up..
