  1. Have appointments with the therapists every day until I leave.. Going to be a long road to recovery.
  2. After two nights with lots of painkillers in my drip feed I'm on the way back to the hotel. Going to miss the drip, don't think that Tylenol w/ Codine is going to help much. I will spend one uncomfortable night and then I'm back here tomorrow for cataract surgery.
  3. You need to simply remove the hangers.. they come off like a dr's stethoscope..
  4. I've been in Bangkok this week with the family.. wish it would have been just another family vacation. But been spending too much time at the hospital.. Now all the tests are back and it seems I have torn rotator cuff and cataract that both require surgery. Was supposed to go in for the first one on Wednesday but got a flu or food poisoning and had to cancel.. They thought my puking thru the procedure was less than ideal LOL I'm now scheduled for Friday night on the shoulder and Monday for my eye.. I'm guessing I will be online reduced hours.. Hartono and the office will still be handling accessory and spare part orders of course..
  5. Wow.. That brings back memories.. Sold to Steve K. in Brooklyn, WI May 28, 2006 must have been one of the first with the CNC cut metal because I thought they all had the first generation of the hanging firebox. Those very early fireboxes with legs are huge and the cracked leg is not an issue, probably done taking it out as Rick said. That grill also has been superheated probably in an attempt to clean it.. I cringe when I see a lid that is white because of the temps needed to do that.. Wow black painted spring too.. we have zinc then nickel plated ones on the site. will be a better spring as well as more cosmetically appealing. That grill used standard thin-set and grout so it is PRE-Elastomeric Acrylic grout and it's imperative you keep it well maintained.. all crazing/cracks should be filled with clear silicone.. Those grills will self destroy in a repetitive freeze thaw environment.. as will a granite mountain The Elastomeric Acrylic grout/insulation which is not both the adhesive and grout solved the last problems and the Achilies heel problem of inevitable expansion when taken to high temps.. no escaping physics. I'm guessing that the upper latch plate is not welded to the grill so this can be upgraded to the latch with bearing and cam. May I ask does it have a black fiberglass or Stainless rear hinge spring cover? Please feel free to call me and discuss upgrades.. I tried to make them always work in earlier KK grills. That is not the original gasket we used a ceramic with fiberglass gasket and still stock them.. I also noticed there is no SS lid tail spline which made the ridge point much more durable and prevented the damage shown with this one.. We can probably dig thru a huge pile of old tiles in the factory garden and find and cut some specked glass green half tiles to fix that tail if you like..
  6. Most of these features are proprietary and my patents are not yet pending.. Please don't post this outside of this KK forum..
  7. That looks Killer.. I want to explore baking more this year..
  8. They were having a hard time finding the 5/16" Square stainless.. I'll follow up on Monday.. But the order is Can for some 5/16" Square Grill Rotisserie Spit Rods with a hexagon drive on the right and the adjustable length set up on the left..
  9. The design is finalized.. I have 10 sets out of 50 of CNC cut stainless finished but the machining of the threaded parts is the bottle neck. I hope to get the first 10 out on the April 8th container.. I've done a couple of coffee wood chickens and they are off the charts awesome!!
  10. We will have a fully functional 42 in the factory next month... We only need to work out the grate situation. One large grate is too heavy and unmanageable. LOL I can't imagine the lid not feeling weightless just like the other KK's. The hinge assembly is two 23" Ultimate hinges with huge common bolt plates and rod. We'll try a few different springs until we get the feel we want.
  11. I have no idea why posts suddenly can't be made in that area.. I did nothing to change it.

And It was not easy to find like on the earlier version.. I tried to find it in permissions and only saw one row of stuff???

All good Dennis. No problems at all. I have fixed it up and people can now post in that section. It was quite strange to just see only Admins had reply or download permissions. Just thought i would write back to the guys on the board to explain what happened.
Good news is its fixed up now :) I can see new posts in that forum which is good news.

      Thanks mate.

  12. Here is the first casting in simple portland to use as our "fitting" prototype.. It's awesome in person and will redefine what's possible in a Kamado grill. The grates will be in two pieces and have alignment pins in them. It will have a much larger latch. It will have sleeves for large bolts on the lid sides so removable side handles can be added to the lid so the lid can more easily be handled. It will have two 23" Ultimate based hinges with common rod and top and bottom straps. And will have a huge roti cradle for BIG Piggies! Whatcha think?
  13. Here is the first prototype of my new Cold Smoker.. The Guru Adaptor will be much smaller of course. I'm really pleased with how clean the smoke is.. The new version will have a stainless cup on the bottom to collect water and tars. This will add lots of versatility to your cooks.. with the adjustable air pump on low the unit hardly creates any heat.. I'm really looking forward to smoking many of different things.. My first smoked chicken was a hit with the family.. Never got this much smoke while burning charcoal. ColdSmokerForum.mp4
  14. Nice write up here.. Ocean Home write up
  15. The secret with spinning anything is to center the meat on the basket's axis.. This way the motor does not have to work. The cradle reducers center different size pieces of meat and the cradle's now have multiple shaft points to give you more options too.. Imagine spinning a bike wheel, then tie a shirt to the outside of the wheel and spin it.. you would get the big wobble.. That's what you want to avoid..
  16. I get special rates for charcoal to a business with lift gate or forklift. I can get from 10-800-lbs to most areas for only $150-175.. Freight Calculator enter in correct weight and zip code
  17. I'd be all over that.. Love the thick bacon..
  18. Always wished I could get only points for both burnt ends and for my super deluxe hamburger mix. I think tying them together was a great idea.. more volume. less exposure to airflow reduced evaporation too.. Love the Money shots!
  19. I get my fresh spices from World Spice ~ www.worldspice.com Their spices are usually 60-80% more aromatic than the pre-ground and packaged crap that they sell in markets. The closest analogy would be pre-ground coffee compared to fresh roasted and ground at the time of consumption.. They will grind for you as they ship which is what I would do if I lived stateside. I'd just order every three months. I get things in their natural form and grind or chop up myself. My go to rubs I make larger batches and then keep them in a vacuumed tub in the freezer. Don't leave the cold tub sitting open to collect humidity. Pour out what you need and immediately return to freezer. I do not put any salt in my rubs.. I weigh my meat in grams or use the package weight if I have not trimmed too much and then add 0.6% - 0.8% salt .
  20. I laugh every time I hear Dexter because that's my son's name!
  21. Lookin good.. love to see them in their new homes. Have fun with it!
  22. To Clarify: The tiles do not hang over the edge, the lip of the grill will touch a flat surface first and not the tiles. If you lift only one side the tiles will touch the surface it's sitting on.. The specked black that had tiled damage was lifted from one side and then while sitting on the edge was pulled/dragged towards the high side. This pulled the tiles away the grill's face.
  23. New long awaited feature of this upgrade.. Drag and drop for images! After dragging them into the file area.. click the grey plus to add to post.. double clicking lets you reduce size of image. The salmon image was wider and I made them the same.. Sahweet!
  24. Solved this too.. All grills now ship with a very long allen key that goes in from the other side of the spring and makes removing and installing those allen bolts easy.
